This is old work, but I like to think it makes a good point. Comments much appreciated, folks. :3

The Big Picture

Our lives are frittered away by detail,

Gossip and drivel floating through the air,

The big picture lost somewhere in the mail.

Eyes always sharp to lookout for a sale,

Take time for smelling roses we don’t dare,

Our lives are frittered away by detail.

We cut coupons like they’re the Holy Grail,

Scrimping pennies seems to suppress the scare,

The big picture lost somewhere in the mail.

Anxiety over a broken nail,

We chew our thumbs about what hat to wear,

Our lives are frittered away by detail.

How is it we can retell every tale?

Chatting of bills, or pills, or weather fair,

The big picture lost somewhere in the mail.

Tawdry notions of a people so frail,

A dire disease of which we’re not aware,

Our lives are frittered away by detail,

The big picture lost somewhere in the mail.
