Apollo's Fall

Strong and generous,
Made of nerve,
The only man who didn't break,
Who ran against the grain.

One day he spotted a beauty,
Known for countries around.
She caused his heart such misery,
And joy at the same time.

One day they started courting,
One day she allowed him a kiss,
One day he asked for her hand,
On that day, the only one, he was forced to back down.

They say mortals are fickle,
Weak and supremely vain.
Might be we are,
But on that day,
Because of Love's first kiss,
Apollo took the fall.

On bended knee, with outstretched heart,
Apollo's human love
Shoved him aside...

On that day, that day alone, he was heart broke,One day he was bitter,
One day he took revenge,
One day a whole village paid the price,
Oh, how dearly they paid-

For Apollo's very first, and last, fall.
