Holiness

The first two stanzas are not my own work, they were given as a baseline

As I look out upon this world
I see only the pain
I see only war
I see only hatred
I see greed making others poor
I see people who are not content
I see sad and lonely souls
Broken hearts and broken lives

And what of the way ahead?
Is it just the same? More or less?
This world of ours is the reality I’m living
This world needs holiness,
Holiness, because holiness is the way

As I imagine this world with holiness
I see only healing
I see only peace
I see only love
I see generosity helping others live
I see fulfilled people everywhere
I see bright and shining souls
Hearts of love and lives so graceful

As for the way ahead, who knows?
Alas it is not as I have seen
Reality is such that we need holiness
This world needs holiness
Holiness, because holiness is the way.
