As he reached the center of the house, he found the white wolf on top of one of the youngest females in the house, tearing shreds of her skin off and eating it. There were bodies strewn about of the ones willing to try fighting him. The ones that weren’t willing to and were too young to fight were frantically screaming in one of the corners of the room and holding onto one another hoping that he wouldn’t come for them next. At the sight before him, uncontrollable rage flowed throughout Marcus and he yelled at the wolf: “ Father! We’re not finished yet!” Jake’s head shot up and he quickly leapt around to face Marcus, growling with his hackles up and the blood dripping heavily off of his jaws.
Anger flowed through him more fiercely, as he realized his son no longer challenged him as a human. He stood now in his lupine nature, with fur so black it seemed to devour the shadows and large, brightly lit silver eyes. Hoping to upset Marcus so he would lose control in his new form, Jake leapt at the cowering children in the corner. Willing to kill them in order to win this fight.
Right before he reached them, Marcus had leapt upon him forcing him hard onto the ground. As Jake threw Marcus off of him, the children in the corner ran out of the room. The instant Marcus was off of him, he bolted out the front door. By the time Marcus got to his feet and rushed out the door after him, the white wolf was halfway down the beach. He gave chase after Jake, hoping that he could catch him before he got away.
At the end of the beach, he had lost sight of his father. Not sure of where he went, Marcus continued running down the shoreline. Until he came across a large tower that stood over five stories high and looked out over the land. When he walked up to the front of it, he realized the doors to it were ajar and decided to check it out. As he peered into the darkness, he saw the glimmer of an executioners axe swinging down towards his head.
He quickly leapt out of the way as he started the change to human form. As he rolled over onto his feet and looked into the darkened corner, he saw Jake wielding the ax and cursing. Marcus smiled wickedly as he looked for a weapon to challenge his father with. As Jake turned and started to chase after him, he ran towards the far wall as he noticed a sword hanging on it. Grabbing the sword off of the wall, he quickly turned and parried his father’s swing.
Sparks erupted everywhere from the force of the two weapons colliding. “ Give it up, Marcus. You have no chance in winning this.” Jake said between clenched teeth. “ Never!” Marcus knocked away Jake’s axe, then tried to decapitate his head. Jake ducked to miss the blow, but wasn’t fast enough and the sword sliced off his left ear. Rage erupted in Jake and he swung the side of the axe to smack Marcus in the back of his head. As Marcus fell to his knees, Jake turned and ran into the darkness.
Shaking his head to clear the fuzziness he saw, Marcus stood up, then when he was steady on his feet once again, ran after his father. As he went up the stairs to the roof, he could hear that Jake had turned into the white wolf again. As he ran out onto the roof, he was ready for his father to leap at him. He dodged to the side as the white wolf leapt for his throat once more. Then used the sword he still carried to slice open a large wound on the wolf’s right side, spilling forth a stream of dark, red blood.
When Marcus rose to his feet and looked for his father, he found the white wolf several feet away from him. It seemed as though Jake had thought of retreating down the stairs and running off once more, but the injury he just received wouldn’t let him. He lay struggling in a pool of his own blood, trying to get away. As Marcus reached him, he bent down next to Jake. “ Why did it have to be like this, Father?” He asked as he reached out to the white wolf.
Just as Marcus’ hand reached the wolf’s neck, Jake turned his head and quickly snapped his jaws shut on Marcus’ hand. Anger rushed through Marcus as he grabbed the sword he placed down with his left hand then slashed it down at the white wolf’s neck. In a gush of blood, Jake’s head rolled off of his shoulders. As his head hit the ground, he was no longer in wolf form. Dropping the sword, Marcus walked up to his fallen father’s head and picked it up. He then left the tower and headed back to the beach house.
As Marcus walked into the house, the wolves inside were amazed to see him still alive and barely injured. Walking up to the one closest to him, Marcus asked: “ Is Samone still alive?” “ Yes, my lord.” She said quietly. “ Where is she?” “ In the last room down the hall. I’m pleased your still alive, my lord.” He nodded, then walked off in the direction the girl had pointed to. He smiled at the gasps of wonderment from the people he passed as he went down the hall. When he reached the door to Samone’s room, he knocked softly then went into the room.
Closing the door behind him, Marcus took a couple steps into the room. “ Are you awake, Samone?” He asked quietly, hoping that if she wasn’t he wouldn’t wake her up. “ I’m so glad you made it, Marcus.” Samone said as she sat up slightly. She smiled as she stared over at the man before her. He stood at about six foot, with dark brown hair and silver eyes. When she had first met him, he wasn’t very brave, almost cowardly. But not anymore, now he held the air of a mighty leader, which she was grateful for. Her eyes went wide in shock as her gaze followed the blood down his right arm to the head he still held.
“ Marcus is that Lord Jake’s head?” “ Yes.” He said as he walked closer to the bed. “ I told you Samone, that I would bring you his head. And I never break a promise.” She smiled as she lay back down on the bed, and then rolled onto her side. “ Look at you.” She said with slight laughter in her voice. “ I think you need to bathe.” Marcus looked down at himself, then chuckled some. “ I do look pretty bad. I think I will go do that and let you rest now.” “ After you do talk to Charlotte, she’ll bandage your hand for you.” Marcus nodded as he walked over to the door and opened it. “ Hey!” Samone yelled as he started to close it behind him. “ Yes?” “ Thank you, Marcus.” He nodded, then backed away. Samone’s eyes were closed, before the door was completely shut.
