The Forbidden Friendship

I have a friend that I'm forbidden to see

He works at Hardee's and is 19

My parents dislike him

So I'm forbidden to have contact with him

I disobeyed them once

Because I didn't see why they hated him so

And why they wouldn't give him a chance

He's such a great guy to me

He's been there to help,

In any way he could,

Since we became friends last July

We have so much in common

From Johnny Depp to music

Religion and food.

Whenever I was in a rotten mood

He'd do what he could to lighten things up

He makes me smile, laugh, and want to have fun

He made my first job enjoyable and something to look forward to

He'd listen whenever I needed to talk

And give me a hug when he couldn't cheer me up

He's such an interesting guy

I wish he would've been given a chance

First impressions aren't always the greatest

But second ones can make a difference

I don't think that he's a bad guy

Even if he's made a few mistakes in his life

So has everyone else

So why is it that this one guy

Is the one that I can't see

Even if he's friends with me?

I've never had a forbidden friendship before

But this is the one that hopefully will come back

And one day will be forbidden no more.
