Chapter 4
What a soft lump… Silky soft.. I just want to hold it for ever. My lump… Thought Chris, rubbing his face into the hair of his “lump”. Wait… What the fuck!? Chris opened his eyes and saw blonde hair in front of his face. It’s only Layla… My soft of a lump of a Layla… Ok, I’m freaking myself out. Maybe I should stop… What time is it!? Chris opened his eyes and looked at the digital clock on the cable box and saw that it read 8:01. SHIT!
Chris pushed Layla off of him and ran up the stairs to go get dressed. In record time, he’s downstairs again, pulling Layla to her feet,
-Come on Layla! Yelled Chris, shaking her. We’re late for school!
When Layla heard the word school, she too yelled shit and disappeared up the stairs and came back down, changed. Chris was stuffing their bags with their homework and ran out the door followed by Layla.
They got to school a minute later, and thank god it was still early.
-I like this super human speed! Said Layla as she brushed her hair when they walked into the school, everyone chatting with each other.
-Yup… Answered Chris, shaking his head once to replace his hair… Shame we can’t show it off to the Mortals…
-Damn! And I really wanted to do that!
-I know, love! Being us has down sides, you know.
-I hate being us… But I love it!
-Your weird.
-And your not?
-Caught in the act. Let’s get ready to go to history…
As Chris said that, he shuddered when he remembered yesterdays encounter with the history teacher.
-Don’t worry Chris. Reassured Layla. He can’t suspect anything. It was only a coincidence, ok?
-Your right. Answered Chris, taking her hand.
They both headed towards their class. Once they reached it, they saw that Mr. Nickelson wasn’t in the class room. They both shrugged as they walked into the back of the class and sat down in the corner, their desks pushed together.
A few minutes later, Mr. Nickelson walks into the room and puts his books down on his desk. He didn’t look at the back of the class where Layla and Chris were sitting. Layla had her feet up on the desk in front of her, her arms crossed over her chest, as for Chris, he was slumped in his chair, his legs bent and wide open with one arm on a leg and the other hanging next to his side. He looked over to Layla and saw that she had thrown her head back, her eyes were closed and her mouth slightly opened. Chris decided to leave her like that until the class began.
A few minutes later, after the students had all piled it and had their new gossip of the day, Mr. Nickelson stood and made them all shut up.
-As we have a new student in our class, started the teacher. I’m going to quiz him on his knowledge of history.
As he said this, Chris turned his head sharply to Layla who had finally woken up and gawked at her.
-I forgot to tell you that part… Said Layla softly.
-Geez, thanks. Replied Chris, glowering at her.
-Now, hurry up Mr. Mongol. I don’t have all day. Said the teacher as Chris was talking to Layla.
Chris mumbled under his breath as he walked towards the front of the class, dragging his feet. He wasn’t happy that Layla forgot to tell him about this little quiz, or else he would’ve studied on how not to pass it. Once he got up to the front, he stood straight and stared lazily to Mr. Nickelson.
-First question, started Mr. Nickelson. What year did the last heir of the Mongol royal family disappear in?
-Around the year 1288. He answered without hesitation.
-Next. What were the accusations that were held against his family or the cause of their death?
-Cause of Death: A raid of their Castle. Accusation: witch craft.
-Good. That was all.
-Thank you! As Chris answered he retreated back to his desk beside Layla. You could’ve told me earlier. Now he probably knows that I’m Christopher Mongol. The heir to the throne.
-No he doesn’t… answered Layla quietly. Maybe he thinks you just were taught well at your previous school.
-Christopher. I see that you know more then me in the Mongol family history. Maybe you would like to teach them now? Asked Mr. Nickelson.
-No thank you, Sir. Answered Chris, turning his attention back to him. I don’t like teaching.
-Alright. Then the teacher turned back to the class and started teaching them.
Chris turned towards Layla then punched her in the arm, pissed.
After the hour of Mr. Nickelson droning on and on about the Mongol Family Crisis, the bell rang. All of the students sprang off their chairs and ran out the door. Including Chris and Layla. They had math next and Layla just despised that teacher. She didn’t even bother remembering it’s name. They walked into the class room and Layla ignored the teacher then sat down in the corner. There was this huge pillar in front of her desk so the teacher never saw what she did.
-Good morning class. Said the Teacher… (for now, let’s call him Mathey.)
-Shut up, Walrus! Yelled Layla.
-It’s nice to see you too, Layla. Replied the teacher.
-Why’d you call him a Walrus? Asked Chris, whispering in her ear.
-Look for your self! Layla replied, whispering back.
Chris looked on the other side of the pillar then gawked. The teacher indeed looked like a walrus. He was fat, didn’t have a lot of hair on his head, big huge nose and you can probably tell the rest about him in your imagination. Chris turned to Layla, who formed the words “I told you so” to him, laughing.
Like the usual, when the teacher gave them the class, Layla was snoozing on her desk, with Chris’ arm around her shoulders. He took the notes so they have something to show when the teachers ask them to show their notes. An hour later, the bell rang. For Chris and Layla, they had a spare so they decided to go home to eat and probably skip the rest of the day.
