The yard is alive with grasshopper songs
Under the summer cricket moon
Mist hugs the mountains
And my mother has dark rings beneath her eyes
Like a tired whore
Black lines run through the cracks in her skin
Water up to her neck
Pieces of me glisten silver
Puddles in the road
It’s night like this I miss being whole
