Impasse

by fabian cortez

Sugar blossom blew

Its dance about me

& I momentarily paid

It courtesy as I

Meandered on

-

My feet felt no

Absolute direction

Other than to find

Stability on their

Landing, so as not

To create imbalance

In the peace

-

A status quo rare seen

Of late, or expected

To be yet soon,

Clarity so muddied

Now is missed, in

Desperate unity to

Childhood, as wishes

To grow older

-

Have become a tirelessly

Cynical absurdity, in

Record’s sharpest tone,

What groove of time

Would blunt the needle's

Wretched point to

Allow accord?

-

But discord’s now founded

Harmony in regularity,

Would otherwise become

Staid, a wearying triumph

In lacklustre unchallenging

Hours, droning by

As a siren that

Harkens the dullards

To converge

-

How foolish are

Desperate thoughts, invited

To inadequacies bedside,

Where points are scored

At harmony’s failing

To incite passion

-

In questioning a quest

Of dulcet worth,

Have we become

Addicted to torment?

Such thoughts fly

Abundant as sugar

Blossoms

-

Catching each gentle lap

Of breath’s undulation

& nature heaves a sigh

At humankind’s

Burdens, so starts

To weep
