I don't understand

Why I continue to try and dance with you

Even though I stumble and trip

And stare at my feet

Trying not to notice

That you aren't really dancing with me

Too focused on someone else

Every once in a while I looked up

And you just looked down and smiled

Turning away from her

And then for one moment

You let me stand on your feet

So I wouldn't stumble

And for a little while

I danced without tripping

I wanted to stay forever in that moment

But it wasn't long until your hand let go

And you reached out to her

You even brought her as close as I was to you

And even though you held her shoulder

I still felt your arm secured around my waist

She wore such gorgeous jewels

They glittered against her pale skin

You couldn't help yourself

When your arm began to slide off my waist

I couldn't help but trip over my own feet

As we continued to dance

And then you stopped smiling at me

We still danced and I held your hand

Like I would hold my brothers hand

At times you stepped on my feet

And all though it hurt only for a second

My toes began to grow more bruised

I started to stare up at you more and more

Trying to get help

I didn't want you to step on my feet

And then you let go

Your hand that was once holding mine

Was now wrapped around her waist

And I stood there and watched you dance

You danced vigorously with her

Yet it wasn't amusing to watch

But I could tell you were entranced

by her jewelry and her statuesque

When I was near her I was nothing

I never had such jewelry to wear

I wasn't even dressed for dancing

On the other hand she wore a dress

That matched you

As I look around the room

I cant find any other dance partner

I cant help but gaze at you

And even though I'm no longer dancing with you

I can still feel my feet stinging

From you stepping on them

You danced beautifully

When it was one on one

I can only wish to dance with you like that

My legs are getting tired from standing for so long

And my eyes from watching you dance

It looks like you'll be dancing with her for a while

And I'm stuck once again looking for someone to dance with

I can see another whose waving me over

I wonder if he's asking me to dance with him

But as I look back at you

I don't want to leave

Because i don't want to miss the chance

That you and I would dance

And I can see you sometimes gaze up

But quickly look away

Such a feeling makes me feel

Like the Phantom
