Act One Scene Seven

Hallway, Jenny is walking down the hall and everyone is looking at her wounds that mark her as a human. The students and teachers are all whispering.

KRISTI: Well, well, well... A human. How interesting. How does it feel to be the only poor human in the school?

JENNY: I'd much rather be a poor human in a rich school than a snobbish faerie who has her father pay the teachers for her grades so she can pass.

KRISTI: Ha ha ha. I love your sense of humor.

JENNY: So do I. Now, if you'll excuse me, I don't have time to talk with someone with the intellect of a two year old. I have places to go and things to do.

KRISTI: (gasps) How dare you say that to me! Everyone has time for me!

JENNY: Maybe all things mystical have time for you, but this human doesn't.

KRISTI: (jaw drops)

JENNY: Get used to it, this won't be the last time someone walks away from you unscathed. (walks quickly into classroom)

KRISTI: Unscathed? What does that mean?

JENNY: (puts her head outside the doorway) Get a dictionary or do I need to tell you what that is?

KRISTI: I know what a dictionary is!

JENNY: Good! (goes back into the classroom, sits down in her desk, looking sullen)

STUDENT: (staring at her)

JENNY: (catches them) What are you looking at!?

STUDENT: (looks away)

JENNY: (talking to herself) This is sooo stupid. Why do I have to put up with it?! I don't have to put up with it! You know what I could just leave! Yeah! That's what I'll do! (gets up and grabs stuff, walks out of the classroom, still talking to herself) Oh, this is so much fun! Why didn't I think of it before?! (laughs, continues laughing as she enters dorm room, hurriedly grabs all her stuff, walks out, still laughing, walks out the front doors starts skipping) I'm free!!! Yeah!!! (swirls around and carries on down the street)

In the Classroom

CHRIS: Kristi, where is Jenny?

KRISTI: How should I know. Do you know what unscathed means?

CHRIS: What?

KRISTI: Unscathed, what's it mean?

HENRY: (sits down) Hey guys. Where's Jenny?

CHRIS: That's just what I was going to ask. (spots MR. KRAMMER, walks up to him) Do you know where Jenny is?

MR. KRAMMER: No. Is she missing? (looks out the window)

CHRIS: Yeah, nobody knows where she is.

MR. KRAMMER: (spots JENNY, chuckles) That's because she made a break for it.

CHRIS: What?

MR. KRAMMER: She left.

CHRIS: (pauses) You mean she just walked out?

MR. KRAMMER: That's exactly what I mean.
