Chapter 26

"Legacy"

General Zoe sat in his office looking up at the two monitors across the room. One displayed Helix resting in his cell while the other displayed a rather ominous figure.

"Helix is out of control. I don't know if he'll be much much effective as a weapon to us now," General Zoe said as he watched Helix sleep. "We have to move onto the next phase."

"I don't know if the new weapon is powerful enough to stop Helix." The man on the television screen replied.

"It has to work. This time we have a Test Subject under our control, one that will be more than enough to take out the two remaining."

"But the new test subject is still in it's final stages. For all we know it could fail."

The man on the monitor stepped out of the way to reveal a metallic orb in the background. Hanging from the back end were four tentacles, each one with a set of claws at the edge.

"That's as much as you've completed?" General Zoe asked with dissapointment in his voice.

"It's still an effeective enough weapon to destroy tanks, jets, and even slaughter many. I just don't think that it has the capabilities to stand up against Helix or Subject One." the man replied.

"Well now it's time to deploy it. Subject One should be arriving here soon."

Alabama...

Travis sat at the edge of his bed with his old PA-12 grasped in his hands. Kell-ay walked towards the bed and took a seat next to him. After placing her arm around his shoulder she leaned closer before closing her eyes.

"Are you really going to do this?" Kell-ay asked with a soft whisper.

"I should be fine." Travis said as he put the safety on.

"There's going to be a lot of men there. You and the boys are going to be out gunned and out numbered, this is nuts."

"No, I'll be outnumbered, I'm not letting the boys go with me. I'm settling the score all by myself."

"You're just going by yourself? Travis, don't!" Kell-ay cried after sitting up and grabbing onto this shoulders.

"Stop it! I'm going to be ok!"

Kell-ay shrugged and then turned away before starting to cry.

"There's another way, you don't have to do this!" Kell-ay added.

"If I don't do this now I'm going to spend the rest of my life running. I'm sick of having to live like this, I'm going to do this. I don't care whether I live or die, all that matters is that I stop Helix and clear my name." Travis replied.

"Don't say things like that, I don'twant you to die, I need you, we need you! Your family needs you."

"I don't have much family left."

"No, but you will have one."

"What are you saying?" Travis asked with concern.

Kell-ay held onto his and then rubbed it up against her belly. Instantly Travis' eyes went wide before he laughed.

"No, your not." Travis said before seeing her nod with a smile.

"I'm pregnant with your baby, I've been late the past few weeks." Kell-ay said with a smile.

"Not my child, I can't bring a child into this world. I don't think I'm ready for this yet," Travis shook his head before thinking even harder on the matter. "No, he'll grow up to become just like me."

"Nobody's going to know about this. I haven't even told the doctors who the father is."

Travis closed his eyes before the tears began to pour out.

"That was the heaviest thing I've ever heard in my life. It was really hard to think about it, my child. My own flesh and blood. The thought of death seemed a little more chilling now. I was born into this world without my father, and there was a chance my own child would have to see the same."

"You see, now you know why I don't want you to do this." Kell-ay said after hugging him. "You don't have to go, we can run."

"I only want the best for my family... Ha, my family." Travis said with a grin. "I'm sorry, I have to do this, there isno turning bak. I wont let them take my child."

He stood up and let Kell-ay fall back down on the bed. She let out a whimper only yo let it be followed with tears.

"I love you, I hope you know that. But I have to do this..." Travis said before wlaking away.

"No..." Kell-ay cried before lowering her head onto the mattress and crying.

As he made his way downstairs, DT and Jon stared at him with their beaty little eyes.

"What's up man?" Jon asked as he rubbe his head.

"I'm heading out. I gotta take care of some business." Travis replied.

"Alright man, let's get this mess over with. I'm ready for this!" DT added.

"No, you two have to sit this one out." Travis said quickly as he grabbed onto his bullet proof vest on the coat rack.

"No way man, you can't do this alone. It's way too dangerous." DT said quickly.

"It'll be too dangerous for the both of you. There's going to be hundred of men in there, this isn't some action movie where you can run into a building and expect to gun down hundreds of men with ease." Travis replied.

"But we've done missions like this, and we have killed hundreds in shootouts!" Jon yelled.

"But we've just been shooting strung out meth heads, these are soldiers. Some of the best. These men are trained to kill us on spot, you wont last."

"Travis, don't do this alone."

Travis didn't reply, he only left them abruptly. Once the two made it outside, they saw that Travis had already gone and flown away.

"Travis!" DT shouted as he looked up.

"Blame"

Written by the Dead Batteries

Trick questions tricked me again

Openly repressed memories and then

Walk the streets where the people laugh,

Like walking bare foot through broken glass

Seperated from the world at birth

Cashing my life for what its worth

Kicking the bucket in the dirt

Where the other scenarios just dont work

Got a disease and I'm on my knees

I think I need to lay down

I cant complain, I need someone to blame

Without making a sound

Intimidated by the thought of you

Washing your hands in a pot of glue

Locking my feelings inside your head

There to absorb all the things I have said

Nothing here seems to overcome

All the sorrow, All the fun

Dreaming of an island in the sun

Where in your path rides the lonely soul

Got a disease and I'm on my knees

I think I need to lay down

I cant complain, I need someone to blame

Without making a sound

A sound...

A sound...

A sound...

A sound...

Trick questions trick me again

I need to laugh every now and then

All my fears need to learn to swim

Side by side with a bottle gin

I need to lay down in a hospital bed

And free the silly thoughts running through my head

I need to remove this peace of lead

Or before I'm done singing I will be dead...

A/N- Sorry about that slow update. It's coming along, not faster than ever, but it's coming. Oh, the Dead Batteries is still an undiscovered band. Here's there page:
