(A/N: Completely irrelevant to everything, but Yesterday was the most confusing day EVER.)

You’re My Requiem

Who thinks they can slap me out of a daydream?
I’m tempted to lie on the fence in between
that which lies in waking life,
and that which makes sense in my dreams.
They feed on my fear, I won’t give into them.
I’m safe here as long as you’re my requiem.

Nightmares and stallions all run wild in the nocturnal hours.
The fields that are restless are the lushest and green,
the kind I’d be confined within
the most feverish of dreams.
I know I can sleep with my head on your breast,
you are the good in me, you are my rest.

Take a little peek at life distorted,
a hundred degrees and more reported.
I’m hotly not bothered by the guilt
that in your heat I’ll never melt.
The terror blitz shone from the stars
won’t touch me now that I am yours.
The contrast now and then is stark,
I’ve no more need to fear the dark.
Something deep within me warms
as I sleep soundly in your arms.
Stirring once and then again
to monsters staring from their dens,
you know I won’t give into them
as long as you’re my requiem.

If I could sing a single thanks, it’s here within the verses.
I hope that I’m tossed, and I’m pulled and I’m shaken,
but no matter how they try,
there’s not a spark of me awakened.
Whether this is real or not, well, only time will tell.
I don’t care at all as long as I’m caught in your lull.

Who thinks they can control wakefulness?
I’m tempted to wonder if I’m not mistaken,
to open my eyes anywhere
and force myself to somehow awaken.
They feed on disillusionment, I will not give into them,
I’m safe unconscious in a lie as long as you’re my requiem.
