Up the rough and splintered ladders
And seated peacefully on the bars,
Above the creaking and rusted chain
Of the giant black rubber tyre.

A delicate breeze ripples my chestnut hair,
Then it weaves gently away, quiet as a whisper,
To the strong leafy giants in the distance.
They sway and rustle, shifting shapeless shade.

The summer sun smiles down,
Causing the blue tiled pool to shimmer,
Dazzling the energetic teatime swimmers
Who yell and shout with happiness.

Memories bump around inside my head,
Like a whirlwind of thought,
As I stare out into the haze beyond the deep green hedge,
Into the patchwork landscape of yellow-green fields.
