Time collapsed,
When the clock turned
Taking too long to realize
The spaces between the safety
Of our laughter, and smiles
Rather than the years of tears
Our lives were spinning
Shedding deep beneath our skin

Our hearts slowly began to shatter,
As we stood fighting for our future
Where distance soon became abstinence
Leaving behind what we loved most
Our silent echoes became the sounds of voices
Playing our own bittersweet symphony
We changed; and began to break
Forgetting about our forever

Glass ruptured as it distorted our skin
Dreams lingered then scattered
We became afraid of taking chances
Unaware of where we were going
We stood together, seperately - alone
Filled with stagnant oppressions
Running ahead of our screams
While our scars remained the same

I wanted to hurt you, to make you better
To teach you, to teach myself
The rules of survival
But as my past curled into the fetal postion
That crack became a small hole
Then I lost you where I stood alone
Because in the end -
I neglected you
