An Army of Cookie-Cutters

By: K.S. Night

March 7, 2006

I watch the other people.

To me they look the same.

I try to think different thoughts,

But they're gone as fast as they came.

To me they look the same,

As a like as cookie-cutters.

There really is no difference.

They're exactly like each other.

I do not conform to them.

I'm different; not like them.

I refuse to join their ranks.

I refuse to be like them!

I laugh because they're alike.

They have no imagination.

But they're laughing back at me.

What could be their consolation?

I watch their giant army

Of identical cookie-cutters.

I snicker at their lines,

Because they look just like each other.

I laugh and point with friends,

At their cookie-cutter army.

I never noticed how similar I am

To those who stand beside me.

And so I watch them march.

I laugh as they go by,

All the while, not seeing,

My own cookie-cutter army by my side
