Guitars

They play their guitars together.

This raw sound filling the hall

It tears at my soul

This beautiful sound which does not belong to me.

They play their guitars together

Two people of opposite genders

Forming one sound, one life to live off of

And I have to wonder if I were not there

Would more than sound be forming?

They play their guitars together

A deep connection only music can bring

A catch of eye and a rumble of breath

I’m jealous, wondering if yet again, she is the desired.

They play their guitars together

And I want to cover my ears

I want to close my eyes

I want to dance and inspire something more

And still I fear, no place may be left for me

Between the two guitars.
