"Maddie !" My mom yelled along with foot steps stopping in front of my bedroom door. "Yeah, Mom." I said weakly rolling over on my side. “Get up, sweetie." She said opening my door quietly.
"Mom...no...school is gay and it should be destroyed..." I muttered underneath my breath attempting to crawl to my hard wood floor.
"Don't hurt yourself...” Mom said, walking to my dirty laundry basket. She picked it up and walking out of the room saying, "Don't you make yourself late for your first day of school in California. We had just moved here from New York where I had tons of great friends and I loved my town and some parts of school. Now I had only one great part of moving here...the weather. And the worst part...Eleana Alanson...my big shot cousin. I walked over to my dresser and I picked out a black tank top and a pair of jeans. I got dressed and went to the bathroom down the hall. I brushed my hair into a low bun and I walked back into my room, put on my make-up and I walked downstairs to the kitchen. "Good morning, Baby girl." Dad said kissing me on the cheek.
"Good morning, Daddy." I said sitting down across from my mom at the table.
"Hey, everyone!" Danny yelled running in the kitchen with Todd walking slowly behind him.
"Hey...” I said. "Well, Maddie let's go, because we're leaving now and if you want a ride you need to go with us this second." Todd said. "I can take the bus." I said.
"No over my dead body." Dad said glaring at me.
"But why?” I asked.
"I don't trust sending you alone...” He said. "But...” I began.
"She's going." He said before I could even finish.
"I am fourteen, why can't you just understand that!" I screamed. He just glared at me and then looked down at his newspaper. "Oh and don't forget a sweater to put over that outfit!" He yelled. I gave him a mean glare and stood up and walked to the door. "I saw that, Maddie." Dad said reading his paper.
"I don't care." I said under my breath.
"Watch your dirty mouth! He is your father." Mom exclaimed turning around looking at me.
"Sorry...” I said walking out the back door.
"Okay bye everybody." Todd said. Danny and Todd followed me out of the house and Danny unlocked the car. "That is so unfair." I said. "Oh get over it." Danny said starting the ignition.
"No I refuse to...” I said. "Come on he just doesn't want you to get hurt." Todd said. "I won't they are high schoolers not juvenile delinquents." I replied looking out the window.
"Whatever Maddie, we wouldn't have even let you go either." Danny said. I glared at him and continued going back into my dream world. Ten minutes later we got to the school. Danny stopped the car and parked in the parking lot across the street from the school where the students were supposed to park. "Meet us here at 2:30." Danny said opening his car door and walking out.
"Fine." I said searching for my purse that I had left in Danny's car two days ago when he took me to the mall. I found it and I picked it up. I ran across the street, sparing the fact that I almost got hit, walked up to the school and to the office.
"Hello." I said walking through the door.
"I am new and I need my schedule." I said.
"Oh okay...you're Madison Alanson, right?" She asked.
"Yes." I said. "Well here you go and welcome to our school." She said. I smiled and I turned around. I noticed that a guy sitting in a leather chair next to the principal's door was smiling at me too. "Hi." He said. "Hi." I replied back with a fake smirk and walked out. He gave me a small wave which I ignored completely by following my Dad's orders of no communicating with guys I don't know.
I walked to my locker and I checked to see if I could open it. I took out a science textbook and I walked to homeroom. I got to homeroom and I walked in and sat in the back row without making a sound. The bell rang and I quickly ran to Science class which according to the schedule was in Room 167. I went there and I walked in. I sat behind some kid in the front and stared at the clock. "Hi." He said turning around. "Hi...” I said stuttering a little. "What is your name?" He asked. "I am Madison Alanson." I said holding out my hand.
"I am Nik Sellar. "He said shaking my hand. "So how does it feel to be the new girl?" He asked. "It sucks especially when you go to the school with Eleana...Alanson." I said. I covered my mouth as soon as I said it. "What?" He asked. "I hate her so don't worry about it." He said. "Okay thank god." I said taking a sigh of relief. "It's just she is a major snob." Nik said.
“Would you like to hang out sometime?” He asked. “Call me Maddie and I would love to." I said with a true smile. The first since before I moved away from my real home. He smiled and said, "Okay...that would be great" The teacher walked into the room and shut the classroom door.
