Mason and I walked away. He seemed mad. I thought about asking him what he had against Devin.

"What's wrong?" I asked bluntly.

"Nothing." Mason said.

"No seriously." I said.

"Fine." He said. Mason turned towards me and crossed his arm and glared at me.

"Why were walking with that freak?" Mason asked.

"We just met, Mason, chill." I said rolling my eyes.

"No! You have to stay away from him. He is bad news." He said.

"I am so sick of everybody here telling me what I can and cannot do." I said storming off.

"Wait, Maddie, I am just trying to protect you." He said.

"You are just being a pain." I snapped. "I have had enough of the protection." I hissed.

"But iut's sort of what my job is." Maosn said.

"Can you just be my friend instead of acting like an older brother for once?" I asked.

"I know, I am sorry, Will you forgive me?" He asked with puppy dog eyes.

"Loser." I said walking into class. Mason followed me in like a tag along fly that won't die when you swat it.

"But seriously, He is one of those guys..." He began.

"That what? Breaks girls hearts...oh no...it is gets suspended every day, right?" I asked.

"No...I just don't like him, okay." Mason said.

"Oh so I see... It is personal." I said smirking.

"Yes it is...Are you happy?" He asked.

"Um.. ya actually I am." I said.

"Well lets sit down." Mason said sitting next to me. They moved Mason to my homeroom class so that bad things wouldn't happen.

"Why me?" I asked slamming my head on my desk only loud enough for Nik to hear.

"What do you mean?" Nik asked turning around.

"I mean that he moved Mason." I said pointing to him looking zoned out sitting next to me.

"Yeah I know but it's just the way that he is." Nik said.

"He wants to have me supervised 24-7.." I complained.

"I know, but sweets just give him time to trust people and then we can hang out and you can date, etc, etc." Nik said.

"Yeah..." Mason said coming back to reality. "Okay so what were we talking about again?" He asked.

"Nothing." I said looking away quickly.

"But Maddie don't bang your head on the desk, I heard that it kills brain cells." Nik said.

"Yeah so now you act smart." I commented.

"I would shut it Madison." He snapped.

"Oh I am so scared." I said.

"Would you to shut it." Mason yelled.

"You." Nik said.

"Whatever." He said looking at the clock. The bell rang and we all ran out of the room in a hurry, running to my first period class.Which was on the other side of the school.

"Okay so everyone calm down."The teacher began.

"So I just want to let everyone here know about the dance this Friday." She said.

"So anyways...dress appropriately everyone." She announced impatiently.

"Girls no giving any of these guys a show." She said.

"Now on with the lesson." The teacher said rolling her eyes.

"Are you going to the dance?" Nik whispered trurning around.

"Nik, be quiet and turn around!" She snapped.

"Sorry." He said turning back around. He took out a piece of paper, wrote something and threw it over his head. I caught it. It Read:

Are you going to the dance?

This is the first that I have heard of a dance. I answered.

I slid it under his chair and he picked it up and read it. He took his pencil, wrote on it and placed it back on my desk.

Oh but are you thinking about it? If you are, I would like to take you.

I would like that, Nik, I really would, but as friends right? I asked.

Of course. Nothing more. Nik wrote

I smiled, tucked the note in my notebook and headed out the door after the bell rang.

"You need to be faster." Mason said as walked out of the classroom.

"Says who?" I asked.

"Me.." He said standing up proudly.

"Okay whatever.." I said wlaking to my locker slowly.

"So you're going to teh dance, right?" He asked leaning against the wall by my locker.

"I'm probably going with Nik as friends, inless someone asks me." I said.

"Oh well...will you go with me?"He asked.

"Sorry Mason, you're my escort...nothing more than a friend." I whispered in his ear, slamming my locker door shut and walking off in the crowded group of people.

"Fine then.." Mason said following me again.

"I am so telling my Daddy on you." I said with a laugh,

"Get over it, sweetie." He said smirking at me.

"Well I am supervising..." He yelled.

"What?" I asked angrily.

"No way, I am on my own this once, for the dance." I said.

"Yeah... we'll see about that, hon." He said.

"I am going to go...you get to Danny's car okay." He said winking at me and walking off to his locker.

I went to my locker, got out my science textbook and ran out to Danny's car. He was waiting there for me and as I thought Devin was there in the backseat, with the window down.

"I'm here." I announced slipping into the car and throwing my book on the seat.

"Welcome back." Devin said.

"Thank You, at least someone missed me." I said.

"Oh, Maddie you arn't going to the dance tomorrow are you?" Danny asked.

"I might go with Nik as friends." I said.

"I don't think so." Todd said sternly.

"What if I am there and watch out for her?" Devin asked.

"I am not all that sure about that, Dev." Todd said.

"Come on I wouldn't let anything happen to her." Devin said.

"Yeah..Please??" I begged.

"Fine, but Devin takes you, hangs out with you and Nik." Danny said.

"But what if Nik gets mad?" I asked.

"Then he doesn't deserve to hang out with my baby sister." Todd said.

'Nik is not going to be happy about this.' I thought.

"Come on I will be nice, Maddie." Devin said.

"Okay." I said. "Fine." I added.
