A Tale of Legends

Here is a lovely story, a tale of legends one could say.
An account of bravery, or a version of dismay.
But who among you is to decide?
That all depends on the philosophy you apply.

There was a man who tempted fate.
He was told it could not be done,
But he did not hesitate.

This man set out to sea, on waters said not to be tamed.
Several years he’d traversed them,
Several years he’d gained fame.

Slowly, the waters began to erode his will.
The spirit he’d started with became weak and frail.
He returned to land, abandoning what he’d set out to achieve.
Maybe he would set sail again one day, but first he needed to believe.
