Second half of chapter eight
Once again school was torture, like someone is letting you be eaten by worms, or drowning in your own bowl of soup. But this class was the worst, speaking that I actually only attended five classes out of eight. I thought I might try going to life skills, and since I crossed that off of my "to do" list I don’t plan on ever coming back. Why would I ever need to learn about raising a child, finding a job or a place to live, either I have already done that or I am never going to. So I spent that period doodling, very productive indeed. The picture was so nice, and I am artistic if I must say. Imagine the school on flames, textbooks burning and fireworks in the background because those are fun to draw, that describes my picture to the T. I was happy in my doodle land, then the teacher interrupted it all. Mental note, put her in the picture.
"Ms. Avon!" she said in her crow-like voice. "You have been called to the office, it seems like you are in trouble." There was a chorus of "oooohh's" from the peanut gallery.
Out the door there were two men dressed in black and wearing sunglasses. Yeah, they don’t look suspicious. "Um, Miss I would rather stay here and listen to you talk about whatever you were talking about." Judging by her stare I don’t think I am allowed to stay. "Fine." I got up grabbed my purse and walked away from the door. Luckily I wasn’t in science, then there wouldn’t be a window.
"Miss Avon, go with those men." I lift up the window. The men saw what I was doing and came inside the class room with their hands inside their jackets. If you are going to pull out a gun be less obvious. "Miss Avon you can't jump!"
"Bet me." I smirked. We were only on the second floor and the jump wasn’t that big. I looked back up to see the men staring out the window. I grinned and waved up at them and ran for my bike.
"Jeremy!' I called for him. "If you got kidnapped I am going to be royally pissed at you!" I paced around his living room. "Where the hell are you!" He had Grissom as well. "I have a date! You are not worth finding over my first date!" The door opened behind me.
With a sad puppy-dog face he snivelled, "I'm not?" Grissom pranced in behind him.
"You're an idiot. Where the hell were you?"
"Taking Grissom for a walk, he is a dog and requires those." He said with his cheery smile. "But… a better question would be where you were?"
"Well, it is a great story… and you are probably going to get a phone call with another version but here is mine…"
I was about to start but was interrupted by the phone, damn. Jeremy wasn't speaking, only nodding his head and mumbling under his breath. With a pissed look on his face Jeremy hung up the phone and turned to me.
"You ran from class and jumped out a window!" he yelled.
"See, they never tell you the whole story, they forgot the fact that the men in black were outside of the door."
Jeremy sat down intrigued, he scratched his chin, "… the men in black you say. But were they wearing sunglasses?"
"Of course… they are the men in black."
"Morguen, they could have been… salesmen…" It is bad when Jeremy even knows he is being stupid.
"Jeremy, I have seen them before. They are after me. I think they are the people that know who we are."
"Morguen, no one is that careless to come after you at school. Unless…"
"They really, really want to get me. They have had our house staked out for a few days. I see them all the time."
"Morguen you could be in a lot of danger." He looked outside the window, thinking. I knew that he was worried about me, about our safety and getting caught. "So I think you should stay here, for tonight at least especially when they are so bold to come after in school."
"Jeremy! I am not staying here, I have my date!"
"Morguen, you will have more dates."
"We don’t know that! We are talking about me, not you. I don’t like people, one date is all I am ever going to get and I am not missing it."
"Okay. Go. Be careful. But do me one thing…" He let his sentence drift off and I didn’t here the rest of it.
"What was that?"
"Never mind, go have fun."
What do I wear? I know what weapons I am wearing. I once I get home after this date I am going to make a special bag labelled, Shit load of weapons for 2 simultaneous crises. How many times will I have to go on a date and watch out for the men in black…? I don’t know but next time I will be really, really prepared.
I need an outfit that would let me draw a gun really easily. My sweaters are too bulky, you can't hide a gun in pant easily unless you put it in the waistband but I need something with easy access. It is time to move out of my comfort zone.
I picked up my forest green plaid skirt. It was short, very short. I slipped it on; it was the perfect length to hide a thigh holster. The cerulean tank top that when with it would conceal my spine sheath. I pick up a pair of knee high boots, these have soul knifes in them, to bad they added to my whorish effect. I am never going to live this down if Jeremy sees me. I looked like a girl. I was dressed up, and hating it. But I would be safe, this outfit allowed me to maximize my weapons, one sword, 2 knifes, and two guns, plus the weapons that I poured not my purse.
The movie theatre was packed, so many people. I ended up parking my motorcycle at the other end of the parking lot. The darkness would normally be comfortable, but people lurked everywhere. Hidden in the all the shadows there was someone, a couple, a police cruiser, a drug dealer... the list goes on.
Finally reaching the blasting outside lights of the theatre I could see Alexius waiting for me. He dressed in his black on black on more black. He scanned the crowd for me, his gaze flutter pass me a couple of times.
I walk up beside him, "Boo," I whispered. He turned and his eyes when wide. "The washer broke I had no other clothes."
Under his breath he said, "Thank you God." He grabbed my hand, "Well you look…" he saw my testing gaze, "very… nice."
"Sure I do." I looked up at the digital board, "So what movie are we seeing?"
"Do you want to see Hopelessly in Love?"
"A romantic comedy? I was thinking of Slasher Zombies Rise from Hell, III. It is supposed to be bloodier then, Cannibalistic Corpses. I have been waiting all year for it to come out." Alexius looked petrified, "Unless you like romantic comedies?"
"Not really."
"Good then. We better go in then."
The movie was rated R, but it wasn’t hard to get in, they were dying to sell tickets to any one. It seemed as though most people were too frightened to step in that theatre. We had a whole row to ourselves, I looked around, we had the whole theatre to ourselves.
Alexius came closer to me as the movie began. It was nice knowing that no one was watching and we could talk since no one was here. We commented on the corniness of the lines, the fake blood and the stupid, young blondes that always opened the closet. Maybe I won't need that emergency bag.
Even though everything was going perfectly I still searched the room often. I looked for the men in black, knowing that my date couldn’t go perfectly. Finally I spotted something. Someone opened the theatre doors and no one wears sunglasses in a theatre.
"Alexius, I'll be right back, washroom." He nodded and returned to the film, laughing as the zombies started eating brains.
I grabbed my purse and an empty pop cup, lucky for me that today's society is littering. I opened the back exit outside of the theatre doors and held it open with the cup. I searched the empty parking lot and no one approached me.
"Are you going to make me wait all night, I have better things I can be doing." Finally, a man wearing a black suit came out from behind the corner. "You people need new apparel, suits don’t really blend you in."
"Ms. Avon, I don’t want to take you by force. Please come with me."
"You won't need to worry about that." I approached him calmly, reaching into by back pocket and pulling out my phone. I switched it to taser.
"And they said that you would be hard to take in." He was about to reach for me what I jabbed the taser into his side.
"Well whoever told you that was incredibly smart, you cocky bastard." The guy would be out for the rest of the night. I smiled; I will get to finish my date.
This movie is perfect for me, I can leave for ten minutes and nothing even happens. Now that is a talented director. I was to almost cuddle with Alexius, but I couldn’t remember if my cell was off and I really don’t want to get him or myself shocked. So I sat oddly for another good half an hour.
"Morguen," Alexius shook his cup, "I'm going to go get a refill." I nodded and watched him exit the theatre; I really hope no one abducts him.
The theatre doors opened, I looked over and heard the dead bolt shut. I don’t think that is Alexius. I grabbed my purse and prepared for battle. Three men walked out, the men in black were always sexist pigs, never any girls.
"Did you find your friend?" I asked. Another person walked out of the shadows, he was already up! Shaken I grabbed my mini cross bow out of my purse, no need for close contact battle, Alexius might get suspicious if I have blood on me. I looked at the cocky bastard that should still be unconscious on the floor. "This time, you aren’t getting up." I raised the bow and shot him dead centre, through the heart. "Which one of you is next?"
The men approached and the cross bow would be messy and overkill at this range, I don’t want to theatre staff cleaning up a huge mess. I grabbed the blow gun. Hesitant because I was a little rusty at using this toy, I grabbed the deadly darts. I managed to get one while the other two came charging at me. But the man still wasn’t down. Are these suits made of Kevlar? I finally threw my lipstick at him; I even remembered to spike this on. I nailed him in the eye and that finally stopped him.
Someone banged on the theatre doors and was calling for me.
"Ms. Avon, please we don’t want to hurt you!"
"Too bad, I'm not feeling to nice now. And besides I really, really want to hurt you!" They were in close fighting range; I had to get my own hands dirty. I started swinging punches and trying to kick the men, unfortunately, I don’t have a penis, so not as much testosterone as them and not as many muscles. Without weapons I would probably get my ass kicked. This doesn’t sound fun.
I accepted a punch to my side and I fell to the ground, very… "hurt".
"Look at the poor little girl not so big without weapons, are you."
I grinned at him and kicked him in the crotch; he fell to the ground, "Not so big without your balls." By being on the ground I was finally able to reach my shoe knives. I grabbed one out and quickly sliced his neck. "This is why ovaries rock, there on the inside!"
The banging on the door became louder; I turned to the last guy and said, "Fuck it." I grabbed my gun and shot him through the eyes.
The muffled gun shot woke someone in the back of the theatre. "What! What! What's happening, a zombie can't work a gun!" I recognised the voice, and the stupidity.
"Jeremy! What are you doing here?" I yelled at him.
"Protecting you of course, there are bad men afoot…" He looked at the men on the floor. "I mean there are bad men afloor."
"You’re an idiot, they are trying to get me and you are sleeping through everything!"
"It was a test."
"With what purpose?"
"Um… to make you learn to listen to me, see what happens." I motioned to the people on the floor.
Speechless, I gesture strangling him. "Er…er….erg… just help clean up!"
"Or I could be nice and do all the cleaning up and let you go make kissy face with your boy toy?"
"For once you have a great idea."
I snuck out the exit and went around the front. I lied to Alexius saying that the movie finished while he was at the concession stand. He believed me.
"Well, can I walk you to your car?"
"Sure." Hand in hand we walked through the darkness. I felt relieved; no more men are coming after me tonight. How many more can there be.
Seeing my motorcycle was a blessing, I really have had enough. I don’t need any more bad guys. I saddled up, "I had a good time. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Can I kiss you goodnight?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because you asked."
I drove off, with the sound of Alexius swearing behind me. It's fun being a girl.
