Alone,
Where are you?
When will you come home?
I don’t know where this began,
But I know where it ends.
The silent footsteps down empty hallways,
The children are sleeping in different homes tonight.
You hit her over and over,
The pain she felt all over drove them away.
You said you loved her,
Till death do we part, right?
She believed in fairy tales,
Guess that’s what kept her alive..
Maybe it kept her here? Home to you every night..
Free verse never got so wrong,
But, damn does it ever feel so right..
With every troll there was a prince,
She caught her prince, didn’t she?
In the end,
The happy story right?
The living room is dark, just perfect for you..
Take off your shoes and relax to the empty house,
There’ll be no entertainment, the power’s been cut..
She caught her prince,
Right upside the head in the darkness..
The sickening thud of a shovel to bone as insanity covered her..
Was it over? Was she free?
There would be no prince charming,
She told him that as she grudgingly pulled him outside..
To the pond, to the water,
To the edge,
He became conscious and till death do they part..
Into the water,
She died in her prince’s arms..
