“I don’t like him. He’s a faggot.” Ria crossed his arms and turned away from Morgan, his best friend. His dark brown hair swung as he did, and the copper highlights shone. He rolled his eyes to himself and acted as if the rack of clothing in front of him was the most important thing in the world to him. Which, at the moment, was true.

Ria and Morgan were in the mall, firmly planted at Abercrombie and Fitch. Ria needed new jeans, and Morgan… Well, Morgan was just there for fun.

“How come? He’s so hot.” Morgan glanced at some polo shirts. “Despite being all gothic and stuff. He’s got the prettiest eyes…” She sighed and flipped her golden blond hair behind her shoulder as she held up a shirt, pursed her lips, and set it back. She looked up at Ria, who completely missed the glint in her eyes.

Ria huffed and moved a bit, more toward the jeans. He liked the light ones with the tears… “You go out with him then. He’s so not my type. Black leather and chains are for freaks, and I am so not a freak.” He spun to Morgan and spread his arms. “Look at me! I wouldn’t have a chance… Not that I want one,” he added quickly. He frowned a bit and turned back around.

Morgan just grinned, her bright blue eyes shining. “Whatever, Ria.”

Ria was dressed in tight blue jeans with black flipflops, and a bright green polo shirt with the collar popped up. His dark hair touched his shoulders; that, coupled with his light green eyes, made him more feminine then just his clothes and body type. He really wasn’t the type of guy that went for chains and leather.

“Besides,” he continued as he held up a pair of jeans, “he’s not even gay. There’s not even the slightest chance he’d for guys, and an even more slight chance he’d go for guys like me. He’s-“

“Oh my God, he’s right there!” Morgan grabbed Ria’s arm and pulled him through rows of clothes, to peer out the doorway of the store. They crouched down behind a mannequin and stared out the window. Ria didn’t even have a chance to react, before he knew it, he was staring after the guy of his very very VERY secret dreams.

Tanner Reagan was a Goth. He wore the clothes and exuded the character, that “devil may care” attitude that had thousands of girls falling for him… And one in-denial boy.

Ria sighed.

Tanner was dressed… almost normal. Loose dark denim graced his long legs, and a black t-shirt covered his chest. Instead of his usual knee-high Hot Topic boots, he wore classic Chuck Taylors, laces loose and following his footsteps. His hair was spiked up as usual, his bangs falling into his eyes.

Morgan clutched Ria’s arm harder. “Oh my God, Ria, he’s like, wearing glasses!” And he was. Thin wire-rimmed glasses that did nothing to hide his dark brown eyes.

“Oh Lord… Morgan, I surrender, he is hot…” Ria shook his head and sighed.

--

Tanner felt weird. He left naked without his bondage pants and long sleeves. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d gone out of the house with his glasses on, but… yeah, someone had taken his contacts.

This is what happened when Elizabeth took over his wardrobe. Tanner sighed and pushed his falling glasses up his nose. He passed store after store, but still couldn’t find his curly-haired best friend. But of course, he’d forgotten that whenever Elizabeth set a time, he shouldn’t expect her until thirty minutes after.

As he passed by Abercrombie and Fitch, he sneered. Fucking preps. He gave the inside of the store his usual glare when someone caught his glance. At first, he thought it was a girl, and then recognized the eyes.

It was Ria Turner; the most flamboyantly open gay at school.

Tanner shook his head as he kept walking. He had nothing against Ria being gay (he was bi, himself) but it was just… his attitude that got to him. Ria was preppier then the preppiest prep… Too much prep-ness. Ria wore the jeans and the shirts and followed the fashions and did the hand motions and the “ohmygods”…

…Which was really disappointing, because if he wasn’t the exact opposite of Tanner, he would’ve definitely hit on Ria a long time ago.

“Tanner! You look hot!”

Before he had a chance to turn around, Tanner was attacked by a tall thin girl with long red curly hair and laughing brown eyes, dressed in one of the craziest outfits he’d ever seen. His best friend, Elizabeth, wore long wide-legged purple denim pants, a yellow t-shirt with a banana on it, and a black vest over that.

Tanner pulled back from Elizabeth and grinned, looking her up and down. “I love your shirt, where’d you get it?”

Elizabeth smiled broadly and grabbed his hand, pulling him to the music store. “I made it, of course!”

“Ahhh…” Tanner didn’t question it, but he knew for a fact that the last time Elizabeth had touched a sewing machine, she’d run over her own finger…

“Hey, d’you see Ria Turned at A and F? He’s so adorable!” Elizabeth squealed, clasping her hands together.

Tanner rolled his eyes. “Yeah… and about the gayest guy I’ve ever seen in my life.”

“But you do admit he’s cute?”

“Yeah, I guess…”

Tanner missed the quick grin on Elizabeth’s face.

Elizabeth laughed to herself and grabbed Tanner’s arm. “Come on, I need to buy a new bra!”
