Deus

Chapter 1- It began

Number 71-54. She’s the best we have on our team. She’s great for undercover projects. Even though she looks about 16. But you can’t even tell she’s not human! And her computer mainframe, or brain, allows her to think quickly and take the best routes to fix the situation.”

Rat looked at her, examining her human like appearance. He ran his hand down her arm feeling her silicone flesh.

Well done, professor! Go ahead and start her up, I want to test her skills.”

Yes, sir.” The professor obeyed, smiling at the compliment. He began unhooking cords from the girl’s spine.

Now, are you sure she’ll work? You programmed everything we asked for?”

Yes, of course.” Said the small balding man running over to his main computer to start.”

You put martial arts too?”

Yes.”

Then, let’s start with that.” Rat said eagerly taking the crane stance.

A-actually…sir… we programmed her more for street fighting. So if a bystander were to see. They would just see her as a really good puncher instead of a more out there martial arts master….”

I… see.” Rat replied a little disappointed. He lets his stance drop. The professor gulped and adjusted his little white lab coat. “Hahaha.” Rat laughed loudly, “very clever, this is why you’re the professor, professor.”

Uh, yes.” The timid man agreed, smiling slightly.

Well! Come on now! Turn her on!”

The professor came up behind the girl’s neck and peeled back a layer of silicone. He punched in a series of numbers into a key pad, in the inside of the neck. Her eyes blinked and the professor closed the skin.

Hello 71-54. Welcome back.” The professor smiled at the girl warmly.

She stared at him for a moment then looked at the masculine man in front of her.

Who’s this father?”

This is Rat. He’s an old friend of mine. He’s the man I made you for, honey.”

This is him?” she eyed Rat cautiously.

Yes, go say hello.” The professor urged her. She walked up to rat and stuck out her hand.

Hello, I’m 71-54. Nice to meet you.”

Hello, there!” The man said in shock, not taking her hand. “Wow, professor, you do come good work. Is she done?” Rat looked her into her eyes and ran his hand down her cheek. She flinched and took 3 big steps back.

And just what do you think you’re doing you big pervert!?!”

I’m examining your hardware.”

Daddy, make this man leave.”

I’m sorry, but I can’t do that. Yes, she is done Rat. 71-54, you’ll be staying with him from now on.”

What? Why!! I have to work for this man!?! Why dad! I was made for him yeah, but do I really have to leave you!?”

Yes.”

But-“

It’s what you were built for. We’ve put thousands of dollars into this project.” Rat interjected, “now, if you’ll come with me to the base-“

Dad! Your not really going to make me go with him are you!? He’ll…. He’ll probably rape me!”

Rat chuckled, getting ideas.

Yes…” the professor sighed. The girl turned back to Rat and caught him examining her with his eyes again.

What!” she snapped.

Her personality is amazing! It’s like she’s a real teen human! She’s perfect! The new age of spies begins!”

Thank you, Rat. It really does mean a lot to hear you say that. it really was a challenge but with your funds, we made it.”

Okay, well now I’d best be off. The boys back at the base are going to be thrilled.”

You heard him, go on 71-54…”

Yes... father.” The girl sulked and followed Rat out of the room. The door shut. Tears came to the professor’s eyes.

Good bye, my love. I’ll miss you.” The professor sat down in his chair and awaited the assassin to come strike him down.

-

So, your name is 71-54?” Rat asked, sitting in the parked car and trying to make conversation.

Yes…”

Ugh. Why do they always name robots numbers. How stupid. I think that would be more confusing then names.” She looked at him questioningly then she looked back out the window at the people passing by.

From now on, your name is Deus. That’s your code name of course. But still. Star command: your name is Deus. End command. Start Command: You will obey everything I say. No questions asked. End command.” The girl’s eyes turned blue and glowed slightly, registering the data. When done they returned to green.

Want to know why I named you Deus?”

Why?” she asked, not really caring.

Because Deus means almighty. Master of the universe. And with your abilities, you will be. Very soon you’ll bloody your hands, and life will never be the same for you. It’s a bad place out there in the world. And you’ll get to destroy those who did wrong. Or, maybe kill just for the fun of it.” Rat smirked as Deus glared at him.

Welcome to the world, Deus.” Rat smiled at her, “I guarantee, you’re not going to like it at all.”

Rina dropped her coffee and grabbed her head in pain. The children around her in the park all gave her a scared look as she fell off the bench to her knees and screamed. Her eyes widened and sweat trickled down the side of her face. The pain in the head stopped but her body still trembled. She looked at her hand in horror as if they were covered in blood. Her eyes flashed and suddenly she was in black and her hands were covered in blood. It splattered her face and dripped off the clothes.

“Hey miss? Are you ok?” Rina’s mind snapped back. A little blond girl stood in front of her. Rina looked up at the girl’s worried face and smiled. Fake smiles came easily to her.

“Yeah, I’m fine now.” Rina stood back up and sat back down onto the old bench. She eyed the spilt coffee annoyed.

“My name’s Katie!” the little girl smiled at Rina proudly.

“I’m Rina.”

“Nice ta meet cha!”

“Katie!” Katie’s head turned over to look at another woman who was waving her hand. Katie’s face pales and her hands started to tremble.

“Oh. I gotta go! We can play tomorrow!” she said joyously to Rina.

“Bye…”

“Cya!!” Katie ran off down the sidewalk to her mom.

Rina frowned.

Her mother beats her. How can she be so trusting?’ she thought.

“Don’t like kids much I see.” A man approached from the shadows. Rina turned to him and their eyes connected.

“… What do you want?” She glanced into his brown eyes.

“Whoa, not very trusting are you?”

“Not to men who hide in shadows for a good hour and a half.”

“… Ah, so you knew I was there?”

‘Don’t give away your secrets’

“You made it pretty obvious.”

“Or maybe you’re just exceptionally skilled. I’ve assassinated many people from the shadows and never once been caught.” The man straitened out his black suit as if he was proud of himself.

“Was that a joke? Because it wasn’t funny and I’m not laughing.”

“On the contrary…” the man smiled at her and sat down beside her on the bench, “it wasn’t.”

Rina’s eyes widened in fear.

“But don’t worry, babe.” He put his arm around her resting his hand on her shoulder, “I have bigger plans for you.”

‘Run! Run! This man cannot be trusted!’ despite her mind’s pleas, her feet would not move. She looked strait ahead of her into the dark woods.

“Wh-… what do you mean?” she dared to ask.

“I mean, I need you to come with me…” he leaned in close to her ear, his cold lips touching it slightly. He whispered to her, “I’ve finally found you, Deus.”

“What did you call me?!” she mumbled in panic.

“Deus, or should I say, 71-54.”

Her face turned towards his quickly. But suddenly his hand on her shoulder squeezed her nape and she felt her body go numb. Her looked at him terrified and confused as he smiled at her pleasantly.

“A pressure point. Pushed hard enough… it can kill.”

She felt him squeeze harder and her mind went blank.
