It’s beginning to feel a lot like that season

Cold air chills my breath as it exhales from

Lips that long to scream the words long lost in

Memories of days gone by…

Screams and pleading from a sobbing child

Whimpers as the leather hits the flesh

Silent peace as the red flows forth from

The girl whose eyes long to see again the

The way the sky was clear on the cloudiest day

Smile of a mother that would never abandon a child

Black and white, the right and wrong of a world that has

Long since left me behind

Long since gone…

Long since…

Long since

The last time that season made me happy
