It's sort of random but...please review!

A Day In A Life

Five teens. Four hours. Three girls. Two guys. One day.

They had never thought that they’d find themselves n this situation or have this ever happen to them. They’d seen it on the news countless times, heard it on the radio, heard about it from others but never thought that it would happen to them.

It’s just something that an average teen wouldn’t care to think about on a day to day basis. It’s something that doesn’t happen everyday…But it did on September 9th…it was a day they’d never forget…

This is a day in their life…It was a day in their life…It’s a day that shook everyone else’s’ life.

Silent Noise

Dear Diary

It’s going on the second month of school and I can’t say it’s been all that great. I went through the first three weeks walking around the halls like a ghost, unnoticed till I was called down to the consoler’s office and had a schedule change. Being a home schooled to private schooled fancy pants and jumping straight to public school is a huge change from what I’m use to. I can bluntly say that I’m afraid of people. I’ve never seen what we humans as teens are capable of…and it scares me sometimes to walk through those tall stainless steel doors of Duncan High. I guess it’s just another day in my life…

-Destiny

It was a normal, typical day I guess, in the Duncan High. It had been a month since my mom enrolled me in public school saying it was to help me get socialized and break me out of my timid and strange personality, which I found to me, perfectly fine. I mean…what’s so bad about being a sort of wallflower?

I can’t say it’s all bad since my old Sunday school buddy, Victoria Reed, goes here and she befriended me the second I walked into my english class. It was quit strange if I might say to have this hyper active blonde dressed in the orange and blue Duncan High cheerleader uniform with matching ribbons holding up her ponytail and her lips over coated with strawberry lip gloss just run up to me and embrace me in a hug. It wouldn’t have been that bad but since I hadn’t talked to her in the last year or so it was kind of whack.

It was a relief though. I came to the school and went through three weeks and a lunch in solitude with no one to talk to (not that I’d want to talk) just to end up finding an old buddy to wrap me in an all too friendly hug.

Since then I’ve meet other of her cheerleader friends including Daisy Shepherd, Darcy Cain, and Dawn Z, the triple D squad, who are like three Barbie’s fresh out the package with the matching personalities that my little sister, Melody, gives her dolls. There was also some hunkster named Sean Amos whom Viccy fell head over heals for the second she laid her clear blue eyes on and made it her number one priority to get him to ask her out to the homecoming dance. Still working on that one.

The mission isn’t doing all that bad since she found out that he had a sister the same grade as us and was in our history class with us. Thus the next task is set. Befriend the Hunksters little sister to get to the hot, hot hottie Sean! Who isn’t all that great to look at. I thought cheerleaders usually go out for the masculine jocks that pull off their football helmets after games dripping in sweat flipping their drenched hair back and flash their Abercrombie smile out to the girls. I was wrong. She chose a drama nut.

9:45 AM 2nd period English

Stepping into my english class I heard that high voice call to me and I couldn’t help but let a smile stretch across my face as I walked to the back of the class and took a seat behind my blonde comrade. Today she wore a red and black ribbon in her hair matching the red Very Huggable Very Kissable shirt and a pair of black pants, which made me feel self-conscience about my own attire of bland jeans and random Greenday T-shirt.

“I didn’t think you were here today.” She said to me leaning an elbow on my desk.

Looking up to her I raised an eyebrow slightly pulling out my binder and opening it on my desk. “Oh?”

“Yeah! I hadn’t seen you in the halls all morning.” She said fiddling with my papers. “You trying to avoided me?”

The only thing I thought was stupid question. For one I’ve never seen her in the halls but once or twice and two, well…I’m not too sure but when I think of one I’ll tell you! “Uh no.”

She giggled and I looked over to see Darcy rolling her eyes at Victoria’s normal cheeky, hyper, and scary-friendly behavior.

“You have Sean in your Pre-Cal class right?” she asked and I nodded. “Cool!” she exclaimed reaching into her pocket and pulling out a piece of paper decorated with hearts and letters and other girly things you could think of on it. “Give this to him for me won’t ya?” she asked putting on her pleading little kid face.

Scrunching up my nose I took the letter. “Sure,” She squealed and both Darcy and I rolled our eyes. “I don’t have to tell him anything do it?”

“Oh no I’ll just talk to him at lunch about it.” I nodded. “Thank you so, so much Dest I love you so much!” she squealed again only to receive and scold from the teacher.

Why do I have to be so nice sometimes? I wondered as I stuffed the letter into a pocket in my binder and I started to think…What if Victoria doesn’t really care about our friend ship and she’s just using me to help her get Sean to notice her. Stupid since he saw her at the last pep rally and complemented her one her solo cheer she did, but what ever it was just good to have a friend.

11:15 AM 3rd period Pre-Cal

Who invented math? I hate math! Well I couldn’t really say that since I’m in a grade level higher in math…must be genetic or something because everyone else in my family excelled in math but bombed in every other subject. Thankfully time was going by fast today because I could’ve sworn the clock had just said 10:50.

Today we had to choose a partner and make a poster about any number between 20 and 30 and put all the ways you can get that number using math. Most people would be thrilled to be able to work in partners but me, I sat at my desk waiting for everyone else to be chosen and hope that there was an odd number of us so I could work by myself.

“Destiny?” Someone tapped my shoulder and I forced myself to turn around.

“Yes-“ I paused realizing whom it was. “Sean…”

“Would you like to be my partner? It seems like we’re the only two left.”

Only two left?! How did he manage to not have a partner!? “I guess so,” I said turning back in my seat to see him flash a charming smile. No wonder Viccy likes him! Oh wait Viccy…the note!!

“Oh hey,” I reached into my binder pulling out the letter and passing it to the hunkster. “This is from Victoria,” I said as he unfolded the note and began to read it.

I watched as his eyes went from one side of the page to the other occasionally grinning and laughing to himself followed by a light blush coloring his cheeks. He then looked up to me smiling again.

“You tell Victoria I’d love to.”

Huh? I don’t even know what’s in that letter! “Alright…” I said back. “Well lets start our project…”

11:45 AM Cafeteria

Now I found myself scrapping the bottom of the ketchup dispenser to even get a drop for my stall, partly burnt fries. With no success I waltz over to a table full of the punk rockers and emo kids with their whack hairstyles and tight, dark clothes having been ditched by Victoria and standing in line for fifteen minutes of the few thirty we had. I wasn’t all that disappointed since we hardly ever talked anyways and I wasn’t much into her antiques and such things and found myself fitting in more with the table I was currently sitting at.

Anyways, she was over sitting at the drama table hanging on Sean who seemed a bit amazed by how manic Victoria was. I couldn’t say Erika, Sean’s sister, was that amazed. She kept her head down looking into her blain cafeteria food mumbling something to herself most likely about her brother and this preppy cheerleader before her.

But now I was afraid our friendship might be severed. Oh well, not like we talked much anyways…

That’s when something happened. Something so surreal I could’ve sworn we were shooting some movie for the Video club and the announcements failed to tell us about it, but when I saw one person suddenly fall to the ground and another do the same it all hit me.

Screams erupted throughout the lunchroom and teachers panicked just as the kids did opening doors rushing the students out. Lunch ladies slammed the gates shut closing off lunch lines and an announcement sounded throughout the school saying, “This is not a drill, please exit the school immediately.”

A few of the kids sitting by me got on top of the table yelling “What the heck are you doing?!” ans. “I didn’t think you’d do it!” Instantly threw everything off of my tray and shot out of my seat using the plate as a shield ramming into students occasionally tripping on a few.

“Destiny!” I heard my name being called and I stopped rummaging through the crowd to see Victoria being held back by some guy wearing all black with lipstick and eyeliner to match. He wrapped an arm around her waist and cupped her mouth with the other arm struggling to keep her steal.

Just then the school officer rushed in wielding his gun and screaming at the top of his lungs over the crowd not even audible to me though I was just a few feet from him. As students started filing out and the crowd became denser I pushed back toward the front of the cafeteria where Victoria was being held against her will.

“Drop your weapon!” Yelled the officer holding his gun at eye level pointed toward a guy who stood on the top of the stage, mask covering his face, pistol clenched in his right hand pointed toward our principal who had just rushed in.

Oh my god… Was all I could say. I wanted to be like everyone else, I wanted to run out of the cafeteria and outside with the rest of the school but I couldn’t bring myself to leave. I couldn’t leave Victoria there.

“Destin-“ I heard half my name being called and guessed Viccy had managed to get her mouth uncovered for a few seconds.

“Hey, hey you,” The officer turned back to me. “Get out of here, get down!” he demanded but I didn’t budge. I stood their in the middle of the aisle eyes dead set on Victoria’s. “Did you here me, get out of here now!”

That’s when a gunshot sounded and my eyes snapped to the boy on the stage. “If she doesn’t want to leave, she doesn’t have to!” He screamed and I pilled my eyes off him to see our officer stumble a bit and sink to the ground hands still clutched around his gun.

“It’s for your own safety,” he said to me and another gunshot ripped through.

“I said she doesn’t have to leave!”

“Christ….” I murmured looking back to Victoria, her eyes pleading for me to leave but I shook my head mouthing, “I won’t leave you alone….” And her eyes spoke a thousand curses.

Why was I doing this? I don’t know. I hardly ever talked to Victoria in my life but when I did she made me happy. She would ditch me countless times, but I could never bring myself to be mad at her. And now I’m risking my life just so she won’t be alone. So if she was killed I’d be here by her side.

“Why are you still in here!” yelled the one holding Victoria who had stopped struggling.

My eyes crept up to him, his dark brown eyes full of hurt and hate. Turning around I saw a few others still in the cafeteria kneeling by falling students and the emo’s and punks still at the table with frowns, smirks, and emotionless expressions on their faces.

“Not them, you girl!” My head turned back around. “Why are you just standing there?”

I looked at him, body shaking, heart racing, and pulse pumping throughout my body. My mouth had gone a sickening dry and my tongue was too heavy to lift.

“Well!”

“You…” I found myself able to push out. “You have m-my friend…”

The boy on the stage chuckled. “Then you’ll go down with her.” A smug grin crossed his face and his arm swung around to me and I could see Victoria’s face start going blue. He was chocking her.

My eyes pinched closed, I held my breath. A gunshot sounded…
