A/N Yeah, this really is true. I've wanted to get this off my chest for a while now. All names replaced with pronouns to protect the innocent. :P A/N

I've been to only one Halloween party in my whole life. It took place in someone's basement, I forgot who, all I know is that it was a girl who invited me.

Everybody was having a great time, we talked laughed, we danced, did silly things, played air hockey in the dark. I was cuddling with my girlfriend myself.

Then we broke out the Ouija board.

We knew it was coming, the board was lying there, in all it's cheap, plastic, glow-in-the-dark glory next to the fog machine.

It sounded fun at the time. After all, what's a Halloween party without the meddling of supernatural forces anyway?

So we gathered up everyone who believed in spirits, ghosts and all that jazz into another room in the basement, my girlfriend was a skeptic so she stayed behind, I on the other hand, were fascinated by them, so naturally, I went in.

The room was lit by a buzzing fluorescent light, judging by the washer and dryer right near the doorway, the cement floor and the shelf of detergent and bleach, I could only guess it was the laundry room. I don't know how we squeezed in the fifteen, sixteen people into the small room, but we somehow managed it, and everyone seemed ready to go. Our hostess started to light one of the small, circular candles on the drier when her mom came in. Her mom said that it was dangerous to have fire around all the detergent and crap.

We lit the candles anyway, despite the warnings of the possible inferno. The lights were shut off and the only source of light was the candles lit around us in an uneven circle. All of use waiting in anticipation. Everyone knelt down on the ground, surrounding the board in a circle. The first thing we had to do was touch that lens with both of our hands. That proved difficult with sixteen people and only one Ouija board, but we somehow got everyone in on the fun. The next step was to say some kind of incarnation or something. It was written on a wrinkled piece of paper and I don't think that whoever was holding it could see the words in the flickering candlelight. We were told to say what she said at the same time, I doubted that anyone could have done it in perfect synchronization, I was muttering what I could catch with my ears myself. Then, we waited. Our hostess said in a commanding voice,

“Spirits, come out.”

More silence, she said once more,

“Spirits, come out.”

There was more silence, this time a little longer. I asked,

“Hello? Anyone home?”

As if it heard me, the lens began to move. Someone said, “Hey, don't push it!” Everyone else said that they weren't. I wondered, was it was moving on it's own accord...? In the light I saw the lens move to “I” it moved ever so slowly...

BANG BANG BANG! A loud pounding sound against the wall. A high-pitched scream came out of nowhere and stopped suddenly.

Everyone freaked out.

The sixteen people that were once surrounding the board flooded out of the doorway to get away from it. Two of the guys greeted us, laughing their heads off.

We weren't pissed surprisingly, too busy. Everyone was busy comforting everyone else. I wasn't terribly shaken, I always thought that if you're dealing with something like this, you have to expect the unexpected. Some seemed tramutized worse than others. There was this particularly religious kid that was basically crying; at least I think he was, I'm not sure. There was another guy that was bragging on how he didn't hear the scream, he was bragging about knowing how to summon a demon earlier, so I'm not going to take his word for it. Some of the girls were hugging one another tight. Our hostess said for everyone to come back, apparently, we had to “Close” the portal that we had allegedly made. Everyone was too shaken from shock to dare go back there, and it was forgotten in the turmoil.

As for me, I felt fine, a little sleepy though. It was either a side effect from the session inside the laundry room or I was just partied out, it was from the party thankfully, I had a little paranoia in the back of my head at the time that my mind was going to explode or something. I found out that the two guys were responsible for the ruckus. But I never found out who screamed, my girlfriend said that no one outside of the room screamed or did anything like that, I'm pretty sure that no one screamed inside the room we were in, but then, my memories are hazy.

I never found out who did.
