I stepped into the void tonight
To meet you in my dreams
It is a funny little place
And nothing's as it seems

The trees have eyes upon their leaves
To watch the lovers kiss
The grass is green, the hills are steep
And all is bathed in mist

I waited for an hour or so
Atop the tallest crest
I'd lost all hope when you appeared
Love's sigil on your breast

You said I was your Fairy Queen
Gazed deep into my eyes
And kisses danced upon our lips
Beneath the starry skies

I knew our rapture could not last
For dreaming is but brief
And yet it caught me by surprise
When it came time to leave

As morning light filled up my room
My sweet dream slipped away
Your soft embraces ripped from me
By heavy-handed Day

So I must wait for twilight dreams
To be with you once more
Until we meet in Day's harsh light
And parted nevermore
