In The Night

Twinkling stars above,

Just beyond the clouds,

Shining and sparkling,

They look down,

On the world tonight,

Shimmering like far away dreams,

Looking like just out of reach,

I sit and wonder what they think of us,

As they dance across the night sky,

Lighting our way through the night,

I point them out,

You hold me tight,

Dreaming of those stars tonight,

The wind ruffles through the leaves and my hair,

As we sit there and stare,

Looking at your eyes reflecting the calm autumn moon light,

Walking along this sea side path is,

Really starting to take me back,

To a night not long ago,

Sitting on the beach,

Watching the tides playfully flow,

Dreaming of how we met,

Watching the moon playing hide and seek with the clouds,

And dancing on the bay with the breeze,

Life’s simple magic all around,

Reminding me of the soft sounds,

Of our nights on the seas,

Taking me back to the peace serenity,

Of the masts ruffling in the sea breezes,

Watching a quiet sun rise,

Filling the sky when night and day peacefully collide,

The moon fades and the stars glow more distant,

As the sun takes over the skys moving gently over the splashing of the cool waves,

But you bring me back to the present with a big hug and little cheek kiss,

It’s time for another day,

Slowly to begin,

But for now time can stand still.
