Chapter 1

I was wandering the streets when it started to get cold. The clouds above me burst sending torrents of rain down on my head hard. Oh great. Fan flipping tastic. An unnatural shiver ran down my back as I felt two eyes on me, I whipped my head around expecting to see someone standing there. I put it down to my Overactive Imagination and headed back to my aunties house.

I got up to my temporary room and looked down at the pavement through the open window. Cold bursts of wind were making the rainfall onto my desk. I slammed it shut to stop all my work from getting wet and looked down at the pavement.

This time someone was standing there, I think it was a guy and he was staring straight up at my window. Freaky Much.

I carried my things to my dorm room.

“Hey Lia open the door for me my hands are full.” I shouted through the door to my roommate and best friend.

“Just a second Ela.” She shouted back, I waited there for what seemed like five minutes before the door swung open and Lia helped me struggle through the narrow doorway with all my things.

“Hey Ela how was your summer?” It sucked, and I sat on my bed and told her all about the man on the pavement.

“Wow I wonder if he was following you.”

“I know that’s what I wondered too.” I watched as she put the rest of her things away where they belonged, “Amelia will you put all my things away for me I’m am so tired and completely incapable of lifting an arm.”

“Like hell I will, I’ll help but I’m not doing it for you.” I groaned and proceeded to put my things away with her. The room was in silence and that occasionally being broken when I complained about something she put away in the wrong place.

“Have you had a chance to talk to Sam yet?” I asked when we finally finished and were sitting on my bed.

“No but I did buy some triple chocolate chip ice-cream.”

“Wicked lets eat it now.” She jumped up and pulled out the big tub of ice cream.

We were halfway through the tub when her mobile went off scaring us both.

“Hello?” I of course couldn’t hear the other side to the conversation.

“Ela it’s Jacinda she wants to know if I could go shopping with her, you wouldn’t mind if I go will you?”

“Course not you go, it’s the last day of our holidays go and enjoy it.” I sure won’t.

Ten minutes later she gave me a massive hug and rushed to the door pausing to open it and looking back at me with a sympathetic face.

“Go.” I said pointing to the door and smiling to show her that I really was okay.

Then finally I was left in the room alone,

“Great, who am I gonna share this ice-cream with now.” I whispered to my self picking up my spoon and stirring the melted ice cream.

“I would offer but I don’t much like the stuff.”

I jumped up and turned to face the speaker.

“Who are you?”

“I’m Arai Keiko.”

“How did you get in here?”

“I will answer that later.” He said looking down at my spoon, brandished out in front of me like a sword. He chuckled and I dropped my arm back to by my side feebly.

“Why are you in here? We don’t have anything of value.” I said my eyes flickering to Lias and my desk.

“I don’t want to steal anything from you.”

“Then why the hell are you in here?”

“I came to find a girl.”

“Well duh, this is a girls dorm.”

“Well I came for a specific girl.” He said sitting down on the edge of my bed.

I surveyed him from the light that poured through my window. Dark hair possibly black, brown eyes, a muscular build and he was quite tall, and young. Maybe about my age or a little older.

He wasn’t a threat, so I sat down on my bed still at about two feet away.

“Who are you?”

“I told you-“

“Not your name who are you?”

“I think you mean what?”

“What! What do you mean?”

“Meaning I’m not exactly human.”

“Jeez you’re a vampire?”

“Yeah.”

“Trust me! It’s always me! I am not getting fired because of your arse.” I said loudly first then getting quieter.

“What the hell?”

“Never mind.” I said ashamed at my outburst, “How old are you?” I asked changing the subject quickly.

“I don’t know, I lost track at about 800.”

“So much for being my age.” I muttered.

“No, I am very far from your age.” He said chuckling.

“So why exactly are you here?”
“Well exactly…I’m here for you.”

“What?!”

“Yeah, I sensed it you’re my soul-mate.”

“How do you know?”

“Well…I’m a vampire. We can tell about these kinds of things.”

“How do I know you’re telling the truth? You could just be pretending, all this could be a hoax. Do you even know my name?”
“Of course I do Manuela.”
“Ela…I hate Manuela it’s so posh and formal.”

“Sorry, Ela Fidelius.”

“Still my name is on the door. I still don’t know that I can trust you.”

This might convince you.

A voice said from inside my head and I was concentrating so much on it that I didn’t notice that he had moved.

He had moved directly over me until his mouth was hovering over mine, waiting for my permission.

I should push him away.
