A Mockery
Some far away God mocks us,
Letting us caress the surface…
Listen to a nightingale’s song drift on the air,
Spread rivers and lakes with your fingers,
Feel the merciless winds whip through your hair,
Watch stars dance and flicker upon black satin,
And endure one second’s despair.
Drown in a lover’s gaze
Melt at the touch of rain on your flesh,
Awake from a dream lost in a daze,
Pour forth blood sweat and tears,
And lose yourself in the mist and haze.
Burn at the ecstasy of a kiss,
Touch, tease, feel, please.
Suffer just a moment of bliss,
At the flood of tears,
At the bite of a word,
At the kiss of a whip,
At the sting of a lie…
And then fade to black,
For in the end, all of us must die.
