Rolling Hills
Sudden winter wind that blows,
Whips my warmth about me.
The dense air fills all;
The thunder is coming soon.
Laughter carries across my senses...
And I look up, wonder where it came from.
The rolling hills spiral above me,
Masses of gray that peak and froth,
Like the uneasy sea.
The clouds churn down,
Their lonesome peaks reaching, and
Reaching, for the unreachable ground.
The rough gravel shifts under my feet,
My head tilts into the wind,
And it whistles through my ears.
My eyes roam the mountains.
The Mountains that hang upside down,
Their roots deep in the world of dreams.
Makes me wonder...
Is there someone living up there?
And when they look up,
Their feet shifting among the stars,
Do they see the rolling hills
Of grassy green, and churning blue?
Do they pause a moment,
And wonder who lives
On the other side of the sky?

Author's Note
Konnichiwa! To be perfectly honest, I was pleasently surprised by the reaction my first post 'With Wings' got, so I decided to make a corner for my poetry, considering that's pretty much the only other works that are typed on my computer. All other original pieces are on notebook paper in my textbooks. To answer some of the comments/questions posed in the reviews sent for 'With Wings' yea, I know I've been a member since...Whoa...2003? slaps forehead I am SUCH a scatter brain. My friend Jenlin signed me up here, and I just completely forgot about it until she pointed out three years later that we don't really have to wait until we see each other to exchange work, if we just posted it on FictionPress. My reaction to this news was: Huh? What's that? So that's the story behind my absence on this lovely site.
The other thing I feel I must explain is this: The story 'With Wings' wasn't really a one shot. Actually it's a part (a SMALL part) of a story one of my best friends is writing. She decided a few weeks ago the ending for it. Much to my horror, the story concluded with a memory wipe and a victory for the bad guys. After a bribe consisting of dinner, chocolate and a promise to bring back manga from Japan, we (me and Jenlin) managed to convince our suddenly maudlin friend Hyper5 to re-think the ending. The spoof 'With Wings' was inspired by Hyper5's ideas for how to continue the story to a better ending. I wrote it partly for my enjoyment and mostly to inspire her to write more of the story it is a part of. I posted it on FictionPress so she could read it, and because it was the only thing I had on hand at the time.
