Falling Action

Formerly faceless figure,
now only you,
and I cannot shake you off.
Though my deepest desire,
is truth to this fantasy,
It is best that I extinguish this fire,
that has burned out of control.

I thank you for teaching me—
maybe indirectly—
More about myself,
Than I ever could myself.

Dear, do not leave my heart,
But remain in its chambers,
For I’d miss you otherwise.
Live there forever freely;
Just please don’t tug so hard.

Thank you for teaching me
More about myself
Than I ever could myself.

And finally I await the day
The figure becomes faceless again.
