A Deadly Melody

The window is open a breeze playing with the curtain
The walls and bed sheets are white marred by photos
Forgotten faces smiling-… crying into the emptiness

Her pen slams into the book, the words staring at her
She grabs her heart in pain and looks around

A music box plays in the corner- a solemn melody of love
Desolation has taken her place here
She paints the walls an imaginary shade of black

The girl falls onto her bed and holds herself in pain
Her eyes stare out but no emotion left except hurt

A ghostly hum follows the melody; the music box crescendos in the sadness
The illusion of purity dulls the sound- but it sweeps up the scream of pain
The curtain twirls dancing with the intensifying wind

She dances, twirling, her arms outstretched, her face tear streaked
She spins, screams out with the music, but there is nothing

The curtain falls as the wind departs to dance with the leaves
The room is still once again but the music still plays
Everything seems so subdued, so silent, so… dead

The music slows with her heart, in her hands her words, her life
Her eyes stare at the ceiling, her arms spread on the carpet

The boxes are by the door, the bookshelves are barren
The makeup is gone, her closet open for all the world to see
There are no clothes, just her words stacked upon each other

The music continues- playing the melody of her pain
