The clock strikes 10

Two lovers meet, their love unknown

Hands lock, feelings embrace

The time at hand is not for waste

Embraces exchanged, their souls are locked

How our families will be shocked

The secret meeting, soon to end

Two families that will not bend

The clock strikes 12, the meeting over

Two lovers entwined depart cold shoulder

Their love is hidden from the world

And shall stay that way until all is hell

When one can hear the sonorous ringing
