Fantasies

Word Count: 1255

A wind rustled and blew her thick mass of black hair as the young pale woman looked down at the ever-rushing city. She narrowed her gray eyes. She then gave a sigh and crossed her legs on the cement border around the roof of the building. She tapped her impatient fingers along her cold pale arm and waited some more.

She was waiting for something – definitely.

She folded her black feathered wings behind her back so that they would not get in the way. It was easier that way – for her and for her job.

When she was younger, she would fantasize about things – often about living as a normal girl. Just a normal everyday girl, walking to school, hanging out with her friends and shopping – even just talking with a live person was something she dearly wished for so much.

To be seen. To be heard.

She was invisible to the human eye. Unless you were a psychic (she didn’t want to talk to those. She felt she didn’t need to talk to some chaotic person) or a dead person, you wouldn’t be able to see her.

Yes, she was dead. Long dead. She had been that way for a while now…

Of course, now she was still sitting on the ledge of the roof, waiting for something to happen… Just as suddenly as she had appeared, she had disappeared and reappeared on top of the entrance to the roof. She raised a hand up to her forehead, blocking her eyes from looking into the sun too much.

A smirk fell on her lips. She lowered her hand and took out a black stop watch from her pocket. Her black skirt only down to her thighs was pretty moveable as was her purple tank top. Her dark pitch black hair was left unbound, flying loosely in the windy air.

She spread her feathered wings, flew towards the ledge once more and looked down. As on cue, an airplane came flying straight towards the building. She smirked once more and to herself, she said, “So Hikari really can do this.”

Without another word, she jumped from the building, going towards the ground at a terrifying speed. Of course… She couldn’t die again.

She was, after all, a death god.

“So… You really completed that one, didn’t you?” her silky voice dripped of icy venom as those words swiftly rolled of her tongue. Her figure cast a shadow on the grassy fields. It was late at night.

“What of it? You don’t really care, do you… Sakura?” another female voice asked. Her voice was pure or anything, in fact, if her voice was compared to water, it was just like it. If that even made any sense…

The first woman didn’t reply at first, her face held no expression. Her long black hair laid flat on her back, black wings sprouted from her back. “I didn’t think you’d actually finish this mission,” she finally answered, cocking her head slightly, “You seem rather… inexperience…”

“WHY YOU!” the second female suddenly shouted. Her thin brown hair was, too, unbound and laid flat on her back. Instead of black feathered wings, though, they were pure white. “Why don’t you just shut up!”

The first female didn’t answer.

“You know what Sakura? I know why you couldn’t have accomplished that,” the second female smiled, “It’s because you don’t have enough magic yet! You haven’t even finished school!” She tilted her head cockily. “You’re weak.”

Sakura snapped. “Shut. It. Shut your freakin’ little pretty face mouth, Hikari!” she shouted as she drew her sword from her back. The sword itself was pretty plain except for a flower decorated hilt and purple-thread like string hang from the hilt’s holes. At the end of the threads, there were two flowers.

Hikari smirked and she, too drew her sword. “You can’t even catch me,” she commented as she held the sword firmly in both hands in front of her. Her sword, was also, plain. The hilt was pure blue, yet the same thread-like string was tied at the end of the hilt – only a gray color. Hanging at the end of the string were two tear-shaped…things.

Sakura’s eyes widened as Hikari disappeared before her eyes. “Feh! Hikari, you forgot what element I specialize in!” and with that, she, too, disappeared and reappeared, this time right behind Hikari.

Hikari smirked again and disappeared. Sakura frowned in frustration and disappeared, too.

“You’re too busy day-dreaming about your human life aren’t you, Sakura?!”

That stopped Sakura. It just froze her. She reappeared in front of Hikari without knowing it. Hikari quickly went in for the kill. She moved her sword towards Sakura, but Sakura’s quick reflexes struck and her sword blocked Hikari’s.

It was now the battle of strengths and will.

Hikari and Sakura both pressed their blades against each other, as hard as they could so that the other would give up.

And all the while, both females were having a glaring contest of their own.

Hikari lifted her left hand, forming a “b” with it and moved it in a circle. “WATER!” she commanded as water began to spray everywhere. It soaked Sakura and she had just about enough of it.

Sakura and Hikari now backed away from each other, a few yards… Both their swords were still unsheathed. It was Sakura’s turn now, she grinned, not needing to say anything, and disappeared. This time, with a purple haze left.

Hikari gritted her teeth. “Stupid… know-it-all!” she muttered as she made her way through the haze. A sudden chill came slivering down her spine. She straighten up and looked around to see nothing but purple haze.

And then she felt it. A blade right at her throat. “Gotcha…” Sakura’s voice came through the haze – which had started to clear away. She smirked, still holding the blade under the brunette’s throat, “And you tell me I day-dream? You day-dream yourself, idiot.”

Hikari only grinned and in a fake tone, she moaned, “Ah! Oh no! You’ve caught me!” She disappeared, leaving Sakura standing there like a fool. “Psych!” Hikari’s sing-song voice called as she stuck out her tongue.

Sakura usually didn’t snap so many time a day… But today had to be a special case. She lunged at Hikari.

“That’s enough!”

Both females immediately ceased their fighting and turned their heads to meet another female’s eyes. This time, the female was an older woman. The older woman also had black feathered wings, but her black hair was bounded back and tied into a braid, and one braid in front of each ear. Her calm gray tank top matched her long navy skirt and a sword was sheathed behind her.

“Ah! Yukihana-san!” Hikari immediately shouted and moved in for a bow. Sakura quickly followed the same suit, even though she despised that girl.

“Have you two been fighting again?” the gentle group leader asked with a soft smile.

“We were just sparring…” Sakura said quietly, looking in another direction as if she wished to be anywhere but there at the moment.

Yukihana smiled again. She then turned her attention to Hikari. “You have completed the assignment?” she inquire d. Hikari nodded.

“Even though I hated, I made sure the people there were killed at the correct time.”

Yukihana smiled again. “Good,” she said and then spun around, “follow me. Our next assignment is…well… Pretty big…”

Both followed, not knowing what lies in front of them. Shall it be fantasies or dreams or even reality… We may never know…

Author's Note: Just a little mini side-ficcie along with Fallen. If I get enough reviews, I might continue this. Thank you.
