a/n: Review and tell me what you think!
a/n: Read the FAQ!!!!!
a/n: I was going to write this last night but I went out with friends. Sorry but not really because I had fun for once.
a/n: I wasn't planning on this chapter being this long but that's how it ended up.
a/n: Listening to: Mostly AFI right now but I'm about to listen to some Seether and Puddle of Mudd
Mood: Hmm…no real mood. Kind of bored and cold though. A little happy because Allen is back. A little bleh because I'm going to piano camp soon. Even if I am looking forward to it a little.
Believe it or not but this isn't a normal occurrence around here.
My parent's never fight.
Maybe it's because of my dad's affairs that my mom just found out about.
I've always thought I was an only child.
Apparently not though.
This woman just showed up with her son that looked about a year or so older than me.
She claimed that my father was also his father.
And of course it couldn't be denied.
He was the spitting image of my father, just a little younger.
It didn't help much when my dad admitted that he had had an affair with this woman, among many others.
Maybe that's why he's always happy.
Well, now that I know I have an older brother…
Oh I don't know.
I just know that I have to get out of this house.
Maybe I can sneak downstairs and outside without anyone noticing…
I wonder if that lady and her son, well I guess I mean my brother, are still here.
Oh screw it, I'll just make a run for it and if anyone tries to stop me…
Who am I kidding?
Voice 1: Absolutely no one.
Me: Oh shut up, go mind your own business.
Voice 1: Haha, that's funny! You are my business dear.
Me: Well, get new business then.
Voice 1: Nah, I'm comfortable here, thanks though.
Me: Go away!
Voice 1: Hmm…I think I'll just stay here and annoy you. It's entertaining.
Me: Fine, I'll ignore you then.
Voice 1: You wouldn't dare!
Me: Watch me.
It's time to sigh dramatically.
I slowly blew air out of my cheeks.
Well not out of them obviously but you get the point I'm sure.
I guess I am stuck with sneaking out of the window.
Lovely.
I grabbed my hoodie then went over to the window and slid it open.
Good thing there's a tree right next to my window considering my bedroom is on the second floor. Let's just hope that this tree is strong enough to hold me.
I cautiously climbed out of the window and grasped the sturdiest looking branch that was near me.
Slowly I hefted myself on to the branch and started climbing down the tree, limb by limb.
I was a yard or so from the ground when I looked up towards the window in my room where I got a shock. The boy, my brother, was leaning out of it, staring down at me, smirking.
Out of shock, I gasped and let go of my grasp on the tree.
I fell to the ground, crouching. "Ouch." I hissed out in pain.
I looked up again and when I noticed him still staring at me, I took off running.
When I reached Claire's house that was a few blocks away, I was giggling. She opened the door and looked at me strangely.
I was flat out laughing by now and tried to draw breaths but it didn't work so I just held up a hand signaling 'hold on'.
Claire looked at me as if I was crazy but she should be used to this by now if you ask me. She motioned for me to come in and I followed her to her room, waving hello to her parents who were in the kitchen.
We both sat on her bed and waited for my hysterical laughing to end. Finally it stopped with another giggle breaking out every now and then.
She looked at me with raised eyebrows, "Feel like telling me what's so funny?"
I sighed, suddenly not finding the situation funny at all. "It's a long story." I said, not wanting to talk about it.
"I can deal with that. Spit it out."
"Oh, ok." I started from the beginning. "Well, I think my parent's are getting divorced."
She gasped. "What?! They always seem so happy together! They never fight!"
"Yeah, well we figured out why my dad is practically Mr. Smiley himself. Apparently, he's not exactly what we call faithful…"
Her eyes were wide. "You mean he cheated on your mom?"
"Well…it turns out I have a brother."
"How old is he?"
"Hmm…he looked about a year older than us but you never know."
She got an excited look about her. "What does he look like?"
I glared at her, "Trust you to crush on my newfound brother."
"Oh, sorry." She bowed her head.
I could tell she still wanted to know though.
I sighed. "Ok, fine. He looks like my dad but a lot younger."
She wiggled her eyebrows. "Ooer, your dad is pretty sexy for an old guy."
I yelped and covered my ears, "I so didn't want to hear that!"
An amused look was on her face. "Sorry." She said flippantly then started picking at her nails.
There was a silence then she said, "Ok, so go on." Her hands made a motion, telling me to hurry up with it.
"Well, I didn't want them to see me leaving so I decided to climb down the tree next to my window."
"Smart idea." She said sarcastically but at the same time she was being honest.
"I know!" I grinned quickly. "So I was almost to the ground when I looked up again. Leaning out of my window, smirking down at me, was that guy, my brother. I was so shocked that I let go of the tree and fell. I looked up again and he was still staring so I took off running here."
"And this is when I opened the door and you were laughing your ass off?"
I smiled innocently. "Yep."
The door suddenly opened and Claire's older brother came in.
He addressed me saying, "Alana, mum wanted to know if you're staying the night."
"Um…" I looked at Claire and she nodded. "Sure."
"Right." He started to walk out the door but turned back around. "I rented some movies, you can come down to the basement and watch them if you want." He edged out of the door, closing it behind him.
Claire looked at me. "You're going to have to get Hunter to entertain you because I'm going to meet Gabe."
"Oh no, that's ok, I'll come with you."
She just stared at me. I suddenly understood. "Oh! I'll stay here then. You go have fun with your lover boy."
She flushed and mumbled. "He's not my lover boy."
I pressed a hand to my chest. "Oh, that's a relief. I thought for a moment you were cheating on me."
She ran a finger up my arm. "You know I would never do that to you baby. I love you."
I burst out into fake tears. "I love you too honey pie sugar cake."
Our attention was drawn to the door when someone coughed. Hunter was standing there with his eyebrows raised. "Uh huh."
We grinned innocently and he slowly backed out of the room.
I pulled her head towards mine and said in a secretive whisper. "Ok so the mission is for you to run through the mine field and stop the bomb from exploding, saving innocent lives, where from you will go meet your lover boy, Gabe. I hope you make it safely. Good work agent."
She nodded gravely and spoke. "You know your mission but remember, when you descend the stairs to the basement, be careful not to alert anyone to your presence and if they notice you, its game over for them."
I shook her hand. "It's been nice working with you, Agent 14.
"The same goes for you Agent 7."
She went out the door and made it to the front door slowly where she opened it and made a run for it.
Once she was gone, I snuck out of the room with my hands clasped together in a mock gun. I slid with my back along the wall, towards the basement. When I reached the corner, I slowly looked around it.
Hunter was coming out of the door with his head down, reading a paper that was in his hand.
I pressed myself tightly against the wall and he passed without noticing me.
I went around the corner to the basement door and checked around me.
Slowly I opened the door and looked inside.
Just as I expected, no one was in there.
I skipped down the stairs and at the end did my victory dance which mainly consisted of moving my arms in circles and shaking my ass.
The movies he rented were on the coffee table in front of the couch and I picked them up, reading the titles.
He must be in a comic book mood because he chose X-Men, X-2, and Batman Begins.
I lay down on the couch and waited for Hunter.
A few minutes later he was walking down the stairs with a pizza box in his hands.
"Food!" I yelled and tackled him, grabbing the pizza box to make sure it didn't fall.
I opened the pizza and grabbed a slice, promptly eating it. I didn't even notice I was still straddling him.
I finished my slice and gave him a hug then grabbed another.
"Alana?" His voice sounded strange, kind of strangled.
"Hmm…?"
"Get off so we can watch the movie."
"Oh, ok."
I hopped back onto the couch, with the pizza box still in my hands.
He grabbed the movies. "Which one?"
"X-Men, I love that movie!"
He put it in the DVD player then found the remote and sat down on the couch with me.
I laid my head on his lap and watched the movie.
About halfway through, I started getting really cold.
I looked up at Hunter and whispered, "Pause the movie."
He looked back at me. "Why?"
"I'm cold and I left my hoodie in Claire's room."
"Here, you can have mine." And he pulled his off, handing it to me.
"But you'll get cold!" I protested.
He yawned. "I'll be fine."
"Ok."
I sat up and leaned my head on his shoulder. He put his arm around my shoulders and pushed the "play" button on the remote.
I must have dozed off because next thing I knew was I was waking up on the couch in the basement and I was lying on Hunter who was also asleep.
He had his arms wrapped around my waist and they were conveniently also holding down my arms; my head was pressed into his neck and my legs were wrapped around him.
I tried pulling away but he had a tight grip on me.
I lifted my head up and looked at him. "Hunter!" I whispered.
Of course that didn't wake him up. "Hunter!" I said a little louder. This time I blew air onto his face.
His light blew eyes opened sleepily and looked into my own. "I'm dreaming." He mumbled and closed them back.
"Hunter!" I said loudly. "Let go of me. I've got to pee."
His eyes flew back open then he promptly he threw me off of him and jumped off of the couch. "Oh shit. I'm not dreaming. I slept with my little sister's best friend. This is a good example of why I shouldn't get fucking drunk! You are an idiot Hunter! A fucking idiot."
I interrupted his furious mumbling. "If you will notice sweetheart, I still have my clothes on. I would say that's good proof that we didn't do anything. And another thing, you were drunk?!" I said this last part a little louder than I meant to.
Hunter came quickly over to me and put his hand over my mouth. "Say it a little louder why don't you?"
I removed his hand from my mouth.
He looked at me oddly. "So we didn't have sex?"
I raised my eyebrows. "Obviously not."
He looked immensely relieved. "Thank God."
I glared at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"No offense or anything it's just that I don't want to die by Claire killing me."
I laughed. "I think I'll take that as a compliment." A yawn escaped my mouth. "I'm hungry."
"You practically ate that entire pizza by yourself."
"Well…that was last night. This is this morning."
"Ah." He nodded mock thoughtfully. "Well go help yourself. You might as well live here anyway."
"Will do Captain." I saluted him and marched up the stairs and to the kitchen.
Claire was at the table, eating cereal and reading the back of the box.
She raised an eyebrow at me. "Sleep well?"
I sniffed. "Until I woke up."
We shared a laugh as I got a bowl down and a spoon from the drawer.
"Give me the cereal box you whore."
"Yes master." She handed it over along with the milk.
"Now, how about you? Did you have a nice time with lover boy last night?" I wiggled my eyebrows.
She glared. "He
is not my lover boy."
"Oh but you wish he were."
She pouted at me.
I covered my eyes. "Don't give me that face! It'll make me feel guilty."
"I doubt anything could make you feel guilty."
"True." I nodded my head and agreed.
I finished my cereal and rinsed out the bowl, putting it in the dishwasher.
"I guess I'll have to go back home and confront the rents." I sighed.
"You have fun with that dear."
"Oh, don't worry about that, I will."
I walked towards the front door and saw Hunter heading up from the basement to his stairs.
I jumped on him and gave him a big hug then placed a slobbery kiss on his cheek.
"Ew." He wiped his cheek. "This is why we never got a dog."
I laughed. "You know you love it."
He wrinkled his nose. "If you say so."
"I do say so, love." I laughed again. "I have to go home. I'll see Claire and you later."
I got off of him, gave him another wet kiss on the other cheek and sprinted out of the house.
I walked home as slowly as I could, dreading to see the house and my parents, not to mention my brother.
A: No this isn't it. This is a story that I got the idea for a week or two ago.
Q: Where did you get the title "Imagined Hearts" from? Why did you choose it?
A: I got it from the song by AFI "This Time Imperfect". The lyrics are in chapter 12 of CIBF? if you want to look at them. I don't know why I chose this title. I just like how it sounds. As of yet, it has no connection with the story.
Q: So are you going to do a sequel to CIBF?
A: I really don't know but I think I will eventually. At first I know I wanted to write a story for Aiden and now I want to write on for Damon and Mallory too. I don't know if I will though.
Q: So, you're not going to put lyrics at the end of every chapter in this story?
A: I wasn't planning on it but it's up to the reviewers. If you all want me to put lyrics in the story then I will. I mostly did it in CIBF? because it's sort of a band story and I wanted a reason to look up the lyrics.
Q: Are you going to write a FAQ for every chapter now?
A: I am planning on it, yes. And I would really appreciate if people would read them because I don't feel like answering the same questions over and over.
Q: What happened to the Writer's Note?
A: I didn't feel like writing one for this chapter. I will probably write them for the rest of the chapters though. I like writing them. Even if no one reads them.
Q: So are we going to figure out what Alana, Claire, and Hunter look like? Are you going to write it into the story or write it separately?
A: I am trying to write it into the story but if that doesn't work, I'll just write it in Name: Age: form. Oh and I need to figure it out for myself first. Lots of fun. Bundles of it.
To cdr1687 – You're welcome and thank you. You are my favorite reviewer. At least, one of them.
To The GoofyCat Hedgehog – It's quite alright. It happens. Yep. Death By Stereo, they're awesome. I've never seen The Lost Boys but I have been wanting to. I was going to rent it but it was out… Oh well…I'll see it some other time I guess. You should feel special! laughs Yes, Damon is awesome. Not sure if I'm going to write a story for Damon or not…Not quite sure it's brilliant but it was fun writing it and it's good to know people enjoyed it.
To Sydney-101 – Yep, happy endings are the best. I might write a sequel. If I do it will either be for Damon or Aiden. Or maybe Mallory. I like Mallory a lot. Thanks.
To ItalianQT – Thanks a lot!
To aferdeity – Lol, I wonder if she confuses anyone else. Yes, I didn't put it in there but in my mind, Aiden was the ring bearer. Lol, I can imagine Melody in a church with nice clothes on but not Jake. Don't know about Mallory and the rest. I'll miss them too which is why I will probably end up doing a sequel or a series even. I've always wanted to write a series, you know, a story for each or almost each character. That would be so cool
