here i go again

just want to be plain blue

but i keep trying to cram whole rainbows into one life

one day

so i’m sorry if i’ve smothered you

(i swear i never meant to)

but it takes clouds to make rainbows

and all these dreams need space to breathe—

so i guess i’ll have to kiss the sheen

off these

polished fingernails

‘cause i don’t have room for false facades

among the truths i’m seeking.

give me time to find them

-and then-

let’s paint over the fake glitter i used to paste on – paint me

sky blue

navy blue

ink blue

blue with a natural sparkle that comes with time

not lies

an unashamed blue

please

paint me in truths

(in take-or-leave-me blue)
