Lor is so incredibly bored right now that she astounds herself. She astounds herself quite verily. Surely there is amusement to be derived from any situation at all, and surely such a situation should be far from an exception when it contains such exceptionally high levels of people and topics and things. But there isn’t any, and she’s bored.
“Shh,” she mumbles to an approaching shadow, intent on blocking her sun. “You’ll disrupt my astonishment.”
Said shadow looks at her funny, which she can’t really see ‘cause the sun’s gone from her view. The figure standing over her is tall, muscular, and tensed. “That doesn’t even make any sense,” it informs her.
“My brain’s melted,” she replies, and waves the shadow away. It doesn’t move, so she turns her head, and blonde locks spill over her cheeks. “Cut it out, you’re blocking my sun.”
The figure sighs again, moves over, and sits down. Without the sun in the way, Lor slowly recognizes Niki in a very sloth-like fashion. Niki adjusts her baggy pants and bra, and the fighter gloves she likes so much. They look like hobo gloves.
“Oh, hello,” Lor states, again.
“Hello,” Niki replies, flatly.
Lor puts a hand over her face, to shield her eyes.
“You don’t look astonished.”
“Oh, I am.”
“At what?”
“How incredibly, incredibly bored I am.”
Niki laughs. And Lor smiles.
“How can you be bored here?” the other demands, with arms making gestures and her short hair covering her eyes. “There’s so much more. All the people... all the lessons...” and she trails off, but the point is made.
Shrugging, Lor idly plays with her skirt. She isn’t dressed appropriate, but neither is Niki, and since when dothey care? “All the unintelligent drones, all the useless information and repetition of the obvious.”
“True.” And it is. “But they cover more here and they know more.”
“But they understand less.”
There’s a pause. Then Niki reaches over and jabs Lor’s stomach, causing an immediate reflex of her arms and her legs. She sits up and slaps it away. Then she rubs her bare stomach and scowls. “Ow, what was that for?”
The older one’s smiling. Hugging legs to her chest, she’s grinning. “For bringing me down.”
“I wanna be happy!” Lor whines. “I just can’t here – when’re we going home?”
Niki shrugs. “When they’re ready.”
“We don’t care about them.”
“We don’t care about anything.”
Exactly.
Lor springs to her feet with forgotten enthusiasm, arms stretched up high and her tail on end. Her ears are now up and her legs flex. “My energy’s back,” and she laughs.
Niki smiles. She smiles a lot. But that’s it.
And she lies down. “Well mine’s gone, I just ran.”
“Run again?”
“No, I’m tired.”
“I’m bored.”
“Deal.”
So Lor sticks out her tongue and runs off.
