War
by: trista groulx

"Never again"
"Lest we forget"
"We are doomed to repeat it"
Lessons of our past,
Heard by only deaf ears,
Seen only by desensitized eyes
Those images all real
Images of our past,
Of the truth,
Of people just like you,
People just like me
All of it real,
No modern special effects
Real people,
Dead bodies,
Real death,
For good reason
That was war
So horrible and grim
Something I am now against
But without that war
Would I have this freedom?
This freedom I adore
I protest violence today
But that one seems so right
"Never again"
"Lest we forget"
Should be the creed
Now and forevermore
