The skinny little tree
It stood alone
Pathetically outlined
Against the azure blue sky
A pencil on a pure sheet of paper
Against the invading insects
Fighting malignant rot
After losing all its leaves
As nature waged war around it
And when the glorious warmth of the brilliant sun
And the nourishing kisses of infinite droplets of rain
Comforted the skinny little tree
To stand, still.
