It is good
The words are sweet and loving against my mind
I can see the light
The letters are stained the black of night
The paper pale
Your hand streaks black smears across the lines
One by one, they fall on my eyes
The words creating life in the fading world
Reality blurs
Minds scream shrilly in the background
I’m shivering
Things are different here, in your world.
It’s cold
My heart swells against my will
I’m tired
Sunlight warms me briefly, a caress of life
Huddled in your world
Monoliths of stone and steel arching overhead
Gilded, coated, they are your thoughts
Golden, silken, this is your world
I am a visitor
A traveler in your city of light
Silent and bathed in dusk
Words feeding the growth whilst I walk
Come to me, guide me.
Speak to me in the language of this place
This is your world
I am a guest
This is your world
I am a traveler
This is your world
Be my guide
And I’ll lead you to mine
