First Kiss First Fight
The week felt like an hour to many in the game, practicing the use of this dream.
Nick, on the other hand, was aware of every second, as he tried to figure out how he was doing all this. He talked to no one but himself and Sarah, as he shut himself in his quarters. And as he had no one else to talk to he became quite friendly with Sarah. They would sit in the room and he would be taught how to fight without fire, for he had already burnt the couch once; which had to be fixed by Sarah and her extra talents.
“I didn’t know nymphs could do magic!” Nick exclaimed when the couch was restored to its usual unburned, comfy-ness.
“We can’t.” she said flatly, “my mother is a nymph; my dad is a god, Dionysus. I guess I got some of both, lucky me!”
The last morning before the first task, Nick woke up early for no apparent reason; too find (once again) Sarah up. She was dressed in a white toga that showed her belly.
“Do you even sleep?” he asked her as he grabbed for a pair of jeans.
“Yes”
He looked at her. He had been waiting for a reason to touch her skin. He really liked her. He’d attached over the last three weeks. Her eyes were so pretty.
“What ever. I feel… energetic; do you like sports”
“Yes, very much so, why.”
“Do you want to play football” He took a white tank top from the messy drawer.
“Well… I don’t know how”
“I’ll show you. Um, do you know where we could play? I mean like a nice soft spot.”
“Yeah, outside. Come on.”
He stuffed his necklace into his pocket (even though he didn’t really like it) and went after her. She took him to a room with so many types of balls, bats, sticks, paddles, and protective gear that I can not explain half of them, so I won’t. Nick grabbed a football from the neat shelf as followed Sarah to a spiral staircase that seemed to go on forever and ever. They finally reached light of the surface. They two of them walked out of a hole in a tree's roots.
Nick and Sarah were standing on the grass, both glad for the fresh air of the surface. “So how do you play football?” Sarah asked.
“Easy,” he said kind of surprised she didn’t know herself, “We’re going to play one on one, k; you can start. I’m going to kick it to you, you have to catch it and run all the way down there.” He pointed to the great oak-tree about 80 yards down. Its leaves were amber in the fall’s early sun.
“I am going to try to stop you by tackling you, alright. Then, if I tackle you have to run from where I did, if you manage to get to the tree you get a point. Then you do the same to me.” He continued.
“OK,” she said happily.
“Ready,” he stared happily back into her beautiful eyes.
“Yep,”“Good” he said, still staring at her.
“Well, kick it to me.”
“Oh, right” he ran off about forty yards.
“Come on man,” he said to himself “let’s impress her” he ran off still, to the great oak. Once he got there, he dropkicked the ball out of one hand. It flew, all the way to her, she caught it easily and ran toward ran toward him.
He ran toward her, but she swerved just in time to miss him. He ran after her and found out he was quicker. He hugged her gently around her middle, but hard enough to make her fall on top of him as he turned to run backwards. They were both laughing as they rolled both trying to get on top. Nick won.
They sat there, in that position for a little still giggling, when Nick just stopped and stared at her. He bent down to kiss her, but hid it, and pushed himself up. He put out his hand, still gazing into his eyes. She grabbed his hand and stopped giggling; and just smiled at Nick. He pulled her up and into his arms, and then he lifted her into a sitting position in his hands. They stared for a moment, and she kissed him.
It was not open mouth or French, but it felt like bliss. They held it for a long 30 seconds and broke it. He eased her out of his arms, slowly, and passionately.
“Sorry!” she said putting her hand over her mouth.
He pushed her hand down then he kissed her, open-mouthed. After seconds he felt her tongue glide against his, he followed. They carried on for a while not even breaking it with the changing position of their heads. Finally they closed it, as he gently bit her lower lip.
They were now in a laying position on the smooth grass; her right leg covering his left one. They stared at each other, silent. The only sound being a bird that sang in the oak tree.
Clapping broke the silence; they both looked up to see Eric, slowly walking toward him.
“Wow Nick, I didn’t know you could get a girl, let alone kiss her.” He said impressed.
“What, do you want Eric?” he said bored getting up and helping Sarah do the same.
“I want to know first what you did that first night and how the hell you did it.”
Nick looked at the ground. How did he do all those things? He still had not figured it out. “Did what Eric?” He asked.
“Ho you had raised yourself to stand in mid air? How did you know all that about Hades and what’s her face? Why won’t you tell me?
“I don’t know how I levitated like that. I tol-” he was cut off.
“Bull, you know exactly how. You’re just a selfish brat. Tell me how you did it.” Eric asked forcefully.
“I don’t know.”
“You won’t even tell your own brother?”
“I would if I could, and you should know that by now. What have I ever kept from you, uh?”
“What has ever included life or death before, uh? What has ever included the chance to be almighty and immortal?”
“Nothing… and that should not change anything,” he said getting a little annoyed. “And I am not going to argue about this anymore. Come on” he said to Sarah, she grabbed his hand and laced her long, thin fingers through it. They walked to whole in the great oak roots.
Eric jogged after Nick and turned him around.
“Just tell me”
“No” Nick said flatly.
“Don’t make me pound it out of you.”
“You haven’t been able to ‘pound’ me since I was six and you know it.”
“I haven’t tried”
“And I don’t think you will.”
Nick turned and walked. Eric speared him in the back.
Nick winced in pain as he fell to his knees. He sat there for a second then slowly got up. “OK, you’ve got my attention”
“Don’t Nick, come on” pleaded Sarah.
“Please Sarah; this is between me and him”
“Oh, Nick’s girlfriend is trying to protect him.” Eric said in his taunting voice.
“No, I was trying to protect you but…” Sarah stepped back.
Nick smiled at Sarah before he turned to Erick, “I thought you were beating it out of me” he said coolly.
Eric went to punch him but Nick ducked. They started to circle around each other. Eric went at him again. Nick caught his hand’s laced his fingers through Eric’s in one swift movement. He then flipped them over and pushed up.
Eric was clearly in pain, his face was red, and his veins were popping out of his neck in the fight to get his hands back.
“Mercy, MERCY” Eric screamed.
Nick let go. “Now, leave me alone.”
He walked off with Sarah into the hole in the ground.
“Nice,” she said as he took her hand in his.
“Thanks. So you’re my girl friend?”
“If you want me to be…”
“Most defiantly” He pecked her on the lips
They went back to the room. Sarah let Nick draw her portrait.
