I’ve got something to show you,
Something you’ll be so surprised about.
Come closer, and see.
It’s really rather exciting.

See it has four chambers,
And it’s red and beats a standard tune.
Isn’t it fascinating.
And it’s all for you…

Now be careful with it,
See, it’s fragile and breaks easily.
Don’t drop it, hurt it.
It will try to look after you.

Oh dear, what have we here?
You seem to have ripped it apart.
And are stamping on it.
Oh deary me, that’s not very nice.

You do know that that’s a vital piece of a soul?
It carries a lot of things…
Like blood.
But let’s not get into that.

Now you seem to be frowning.
What’s wrong with it?
Oh, I see!
It seems to be still there.

Strange how when you break a heart,
The pieces remain.
And all we can do is get a dustpan,
And pick it up.

And set it right,
Heal its wounds.
But scars are hard to heal.
Maybe we’ll have better luck with the next one.
