And I’m sure you’re on your way
Yes I’m sure you’re on the road
And I’m sure you’re faster than before
Yes I know you’re somewhere on the road
I reckon there is nothing more to say
-Kate Havnevik
The shrill ringing of the bell was the happiest sound Sara had ever heard. It was her last day as a junior at Dandridge High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Summer meant ice cream, swimming, sleeping in, and…Ryan. Truth was, Sara wasn’t actually sure when she’d see him again. Hell, she wasn’t sure if she’d ever see him again. It had been six months since they last spoke. But Sara couldn’t help herself, she thought and dreamt about him nonstop. It was enough to drive a girl crazy.
Then the fire fades away
But most of everyday
Is full of tired excuses
But it's too hard to say
I wish it were simple
But we give up easily
You're close enough to see that
You're the other side of the world
to me

Isobel was about to lose her mind. Tonight was her date with Jared: gorgeous, mysterious, bad boy Jared. She tried to contain her excitement, but she never was that good at it. The guys had she had dated before were jerks. But Jared was different, she could just tell. He had these beautiful dark eyes that seemed to know everything-okay, she was barely breathing. She replayed their earlier conversation in her head a million times, until it felt almost unreal.
“Yo, babe.” Jared had greeted her this morning. “Looking good.” Isobel had blushed furiously at this. “Doin’ anything tonight?” he asked suavely.
“I guess not.” She had said, trying her best to look uninterested. She wasn’t sure if it had worked or not.
“I’ll pick you up at seven, right? Later.” And with that, he was gone.
Isobel was far too thrilled to wonder how he knew where she lived. She didn’t even care.
I've been watching your world from afar,
I've been trying to be where you are,
And I've been secretly falling apart,
I'll see.
To me, you're strange and you're beautiful,
You'd be so perfect with me but you just can't see,
You turn every head but you don't see me.

Luke was staring at her. Again. God, he was so annoying. Why couldn’t he find another girl to pester with his incessant gawking? It was truly beginning to irritate her. But still, Mia could feel his deep blue eyes boring a hole in her back. She sent ESP messages for him to stop, but it was useless. There was an extremely bad connection within these school walls. Finally, the last bell of the year rung through the halls. Mia could have kissed the desk, the chair, the floor, anything. She was out of here, and not looking back.
So I look in your direction
But you pay me no attention, do you?
I know you don't listen to me
'Cos you say you see straight through me, don't you?
And on and on
From the moment I wake, to the moment I sleep
I'll be there by your side; just you try and stop me
I'll be waiting in line, just to see if you care.

My god, he was gorgeous. Rose watched intently as Andrew paced down the hallway with his football buddies. He had this deep, sandy blonde hair that flopped over his sparkling green eyes in a way that drove Rose crazy. She had obsessed over him since the beginning of the high school, hanging out by his locker and slipping him anonymously made baked goods. That’s right, she had it bad. So what if he had never looked twice at her? It would all happen one day.
“Boo.” A deep male voice said behind her.
Startled, Rose spun around. Oh. It was only Seth. Seth had been her best friend for as long as she could remember.
“Pizza?” he inquired. Rose was all too oblivious to the hopefulness in his eyes.
“No thanks. I’m pretty tired, I think I’ll just go home and get some sleep.”
She was also pretty oblivious to the obvious disappointment in his eyes as well. He didn’t even try to hide it anymore. He knew she wouldn’t notice.
