First, the needle
Slid under my skin
Into the vein
Releasing its poison
"No mistakes"
The fingers knew what to do
From years of experience
My vision clouded
And my mind grew hazy

I don't recall what happened next
But I know that it did happen
The blade flew across my skin
In the hands of an expert
The pink of the flesh opened
Spilling blood, and my insides
Slipped out

"The world will be a better place"
Soon it would all be over
The suffering that my family had endured
Would finally be over

I woke up the next day
Surrounded by doctors.
They said everything would be okay
