(Not quite a) happy-ever-after
She was:
A bit of a loner
A kind of mistake
Ask yourself how you ever let this one in.
The answers don’t come cheap,
And anyway,
You’d rather not have the truth
E x p o s e d for all to see.
Fortunately for you, she’s no
L a s t i n g t e m p t a t i o n.
(You wonder if you should feel the way you do
About how(wonderfully)fleeting life is.)
From here on in, you’ll have to
Consider yourself
Taken in by something different
(You can’t stand being different and everyone knows it.)
Still, you have to admit you got
lucky:
She’s a stain you can
w a s h o u t.
I hate this poem with every fiber in my being, but I'd like to get some other opinions on it.
And I'd also like to announce to the world that sonata in c major saved both the formatting of my stuff, and my sanity, with her EXTREMLY helpful review. Yay.
