Hi. This is my story. I have been writing it in a book but now im out of space and my friend told me to put it on fiction press. So, here is ‘Elements’

“Assemblies are so boring!” Dawn whispered to her friends.

“Yeah. Year 4 gets the worst spot” one of her friends was trying to see the stage.

“What I wouldn’t give for something to come through that window and stop this.” Dawn pointed out the window she was sitting next to. Then her wish came true. A tall boy crashed through the window, grabbed Dawn and jumped out.

Dawn was stumbling to stay on her feet. The boy had grabbed her wrist and was running very fast. Behind her, she could hear the screams from the school hall. The boy continued around the corner and she lost sight of her school.

“What’s happening?” She thought. She tripped and sort of flew. The boy was running so fast that she only grazed the ground every now and then.

“I have to get him to stop…” Dawn reached for one of his ankles and, after a few tries, caught it and he fell over. She hit the ground but before she knew it, the boy had grabbed her from behind. She was bruised and bleeding all over, but she still struggled.

“Quit it!” the boy barked at her. She ignored him. The boy sighed as if he were annoyed.

“Sorry I have to do this then.” Dawn felt herself being whirled around and hit in the stomach.

“I told you to quit it.” Was all she heard before she blacked out.

She found herself in a wood. This wood wasn’t real. It was in her head. It was where she came when she was asleep, felt afraid or just wanted to get away from the world. She found a little fawn that always was with her. The fawn didn’t have a name. Dawn talked to the fawn every time she was here.

She heard faint voices. They were arguing. As the wood faded, the voices got louder.

“I can’t believe you did that to her!” A boy’s voice cried.

“You know what I’m like when I get frustrated!” Another boy’s voice argued back.

“Well, you are an idiot! Now she’ll be scared out of her brain.” The first voice came again. Dawn opened her eyes. She saw the boy and a new boy glaring at each other.

“Then you shouldn’t have sent me!” The boy who caught her shouted. Dawn hated people shouting and yelling. She brought her knees up as far as she could and hugged them, burying her head in her arms. She was afraid.

“Oh, no. she’s awake.” The new boy’s voice was right next to her. He spoke very softly.

“You ok?” He asked. Dawn didn’t reply “There’s no need to be scared. No one is going to hurt you.” Dawn peeked out from under her arm. The boy next to her had brown hair and freckles across his nose. He smiled at her and she hid her head again. Then she felt herself being lifted up and tensed. She did not stop hugging her knees, even when she was put on something soft. Dawn risked another peek. She realised she had been sitting on the floor before. She saw the boy who had caught her leaning on the far wall by the door. Now, she was sitting on a bed as the new boy walked to the door and called,

“Hey Amarina! Come here for a minute!”

“Coming!” A girl with blonde hair and jeans walked through the door.

“Yes Blaze?” she asked. The new boy motioned to Dawn.

“Little help?” he asked. Amarina looked at Dawn and gasped.

“Oh my, Peter! What did you do to her?” she asked the boy leaning on the wall.

“She struggled and I tripped.” He replied bluntly.

“You’re in a bad mood, get out of here!” she pushed him out the door.

“Ok.” Amarina walked over to Dawn and sat next to her. Dawn hid her head.

“My name is Amarina, this is Blaze and the boy who just left is Peter.” Amarina waited for Dawn to reply. When she got nothing, she went on.

“How about we clean you up a bit? You must be cold.” It was true. Dawn was freezing. Her little body was reacting to all the cuts and bleeding. Blaze pulled off his baggy jumper and draped it around her

“I’ll be right back.” Amarina left the room and returned a second later with a box.

She brought out some tissues and a large band aid. She gently wiped the blood of Dawn knee and put the band aid over it. As she finished, another voice floated through the door.

“And then he said,” The voice got louder “you idiot, someone’s stolen our tent!” Then a very angry looking girl walked passed the door. The voice came again. Amarina and Blaze both looked through the door.

“A kangaroo and a sheep, what do you get? A woolly jumper!”

Would you get lost Griffin? Go away!” The girl’s voice floated from down the hall.

“Fiona and Griffin.” Amarina whispered. Griffin looked in the door.

“I will get her to laugh.” he continued with his bad jokes. Peter was walking behind Griffin.

”You’re just going to get hit again.” Peter said.

“No I won’t. Hey, Fi! What do you get if, OUCH!”

“I told you to get lost” and quit calling me Fi! “Fiona’s voice floated down the hall

“Fiona must have hit him. He’s dicing with death, that guy.” Blaze laughed.

“What does that mean?” Dawn asked in a small voice. They both looked at her, surprised to hear her talk.

“Dicing with death? Means he’s asking for it.” Blaze replied

“Oh. My brother always says that about the dog.” Dawn remembered her brother,

“You have a brother?” Amarina asked. Dawn nodded.

“Charlie. He’s older than me.”

“How old is he?”

“14.”Dawn replied as Griffin walked in the door.

“I just realised something. Dawns here!” He cried.

“Griffin.” Blaze said.

“You control light, right? That’s cool. I can control wind. Amarina’s water and Blaze is fire. Griffin continued.

“Griffin,” Blaze’s voice became stern.

“Fiona can control snow and ice and Peter can control rock.” Griffin ignored Blaze.

“GRIFFIN!” Blaze shouted. Dawn buried her head in her knees again.

“Oh, look at that. Now you’ve scared her!” Griffin exclaimed.

“We haven’t told her yet!” Blaze cried. Griffin was taken aback.

“Oh, uh, um, well then.” For once, he didn’t know what to say. Then Peter poked his head through the door.

“Jonah wants us.” He said.

“Tell him to wait a few minutes.” Amarina replied.

“He said it’s urgent.” Peter motioned out the door. Amarina let out a heavy sigh.

“Ok. Come on.” Amarina waited for Dawn. When Dawn tried to get up, she fell when she put pressure on her left leg. Blaze caught her arm and put her back on the bed.

“Put her on my back.” Blaze turned around. Amarina gently pushed Dawn onto his back.

“How do these people know my name? And what was Griffin talking about controlling things?” Dawn wondered. “I just want to go home…”

“Jonah is the guy who brought us all here.” Blaze suddenly said. “He wouldn’t tell us much, but he said he would as soon as you got here.” Amarina smiled at Dawn.

“He isn’t mean,” She began. “Though he can be a bit blunt.” They turned into a room that had a table, chairs and a large screen with a key board attached. Fiona and Peter were already there. Blaze set Dawn down in a chair. Amarina sat next to Dawn, Blaze on the other side and Griffin sat next to Fiona.

“So, where exactly is Jonah?” Amarina asked.

“Here.” A deep voice replied from behind them. Amarina let out a small scream.

“Would you not do that?” she exclaimed. The man laughed.

“You should be aware of your surroundings.” He said He walked to the head of the table.

“Now that we are all here, we can begin.”
