Hello! Sorry it took a while to update, but I was in Darwin visiting my dad. Thanks for the reviews! Oh, and Sarrasanne? Thanks for picking up the error, it happened because the ‘D’ and the ‘S’ are right next to each other and I’m still learning to touch type. Onto the chapter!
They hurried down the hall to the room with the table. Fiona and Peter were already there. Peter looked a bit rushed, while Fiona looked completely fine.
“So, where is Jonah?” Peter asked.
“Here.” Amarina ‘yipped’ again.
“Honestly, stop it!” she cried.
“Like I said. Be aware of your surroundings.” Jonah strode to the head of the table while Amarina, Blaze, Griffin and Dawn took a seat. Jonah breathed heavily, as if he were annoyed.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you forced Dawn to come here?” he looked at Peter.
“Ummm,” Peter looked at the table.
“Why? What’s happened?” Griffin looked from Peter to Jonah and back again.
“She’s on the news.” Jonah turned on the screen with the keyboard attached. The news caster was speaking.
“10 year old, Dawn Keating was kidnapped yesterday,” A picture of Dawn flashed on the screen. “As she was sitting in assembly just before the home bell was due to wring, a boy with dark brown hair crashed through the window and pulled her out with him.” It showed the window where Peter came through. Shattered glass was sitting at the bottom. “The boy used a rock to break the window and then jump through. Witnesses report that the boy was seen earlier with this girl. They provided police with these descriptions.” Sketches of Peter and Fiona flashed on the screen. Jonah turned the TV off.
“Now people will be looking for Dawn and you two.” He looked at Peter and Fiona. Peter looked away while Fiona seemed totally unfazed by the situation.
“So, this will make it harder?” Fiona looked straight at Jonah
“Unfortunately, yes. So we will have to be very careful now, which will make it harder for us t leave.” Jonah looked around.
“Go where?” Griffin asked.
“In the world, there are certain places where your powers are strongest. We are going to your individual place to develop your powers.” Jonah explained.
“And, so….? Blaze made gestures with his hands to indicate that he wanted to know more. Jonah frowned.
“And so we are going there, like I said.” This did not satisfy Blaze, but he kept his mouth shut. He was annoyed with Peter and Fiona. It was best to leave him alone for now.
“How? Peter asked.”
“By plane.” Jonah replied bluntly.
“PLANE?!” Amarina exploded. “Won’t someone recognise Dawn or Peter or Fiona?” Fiona looked at her, her expression was the same bored look it always was.
“Dawn can be made to look like a boy, as well as Fiona.” Jonah was becoming tired and more annoyed.
“What about me? You are not making me look like a girl!” Peter cried. Jonah sent a cold look at him. Peter seemed to shrink at that moment.
“Did I say that? No I didn’t. We can dye your hair.” He snapped. “Not permanently!” he quickly added when he saw Peter gaping at him. “And find you some sunglasses. We are leaving tomorrow, so Amarina and Blaze, could you please go to the store and buy Dawn some new clothes. I will lend u a video phone and some money, but please return the phone. Dawn can’t leave, neither can Peter or Fiona.”
“Why can’t I?” Griffin asked.
“Cause you’ll stuff it up some how.” Fiona replied quickly.
“Anyway,” Jonah cut into the argument before it got out of hand. “Blaze and Amarina, please follow me.” He left followed by Blaze and Amarina. The room was silent, and then Blaze poked his head in the room.
“You can go now, you know.” Fiona got up immediately and left.
“Hey Dawn, you like video games?” Griffin asked. Dawn nodded.
“Come on then!” Griffin walked to the door and waited for Dawn.
“I’ll go and set it up.” Peter walked past Griffin and into the hall. Griffin led Dawn down to his room. Peter had already set up the game and handed one of the controllers three controllers to Dawn. The game was hooked up to a small TV near the end of Griffin’s bed. Griffin sat on the floor with Dawn while Peter sat on the bed.
“Jump, press A, A, A!” Griffin was helping Dawn to play. But Dawn already knew how to play. She and her brother had this game and they played it all the time.
“Wahoo! I win! Yeah!” Griffin jumped up and waved his arms in the air. “In your face, Peter!”
“You may have won, but Dawn got high score.” Peter pointed at the screen.
“What?” Griffin gapped at Dawn’s flashing name. Dawn just shrugged. Then the screen flashed.
“Incoming call. Incoming call.” A voice repeated
“Re-match!” Griffin cried.
“No. It’s probably Amarina and Blaze. Peter leaned over to a small bedside table and pressed a box attached to the table.
“Hello?” Peter said
“Finally!” Amarina’s voice cried. The screen showed Amarina’s face. She was in a store with Blaze behind her.
“Ok, Dawn? What size are you?”
“10” Dawn replied
“Ok. What sort of clothes do you like?”
“Comfortable ones.” Griffin fell over laughing. Amarina frowned.
“What’s so funny?” She demanded.
“Nothing.” Griffin replied.
“Right then. Dawn, how about these jeans?” Amarina held up a pair of jeans.
“Their nice.” Dawn replied. Amarina hung them over her arm.
“Ok, we’ll get these. Blaze, you could be a little more helpful, you know.”
“Hey, don’t blame me. I’m not good at looking for girls clothes.
“Well then, you can be a bit more helpful when we look for boys clothes.” Eventually, they had several pairs of pants and a few T-Shirts. They had even grabbed a pair of sunglasses for Peter and a few caps.
When they came back, Dawn tried on all the clothes and most of them fit.
“Lunch time!” Griffin ran in. “Come on!” He raced out again.
“He’s always hungry.” Blaze said. They walked to the room with the table in it. There were plates of stuff that one time might have been food. Dawn couldn’t really decide what anything was. Dawn looked at Griffin. He was scoffing it down like he hadn’t eaten in days. Everyone just pushed their plates away.
“You gonna eat that?” Griffin pointed at Fiona’s plate.
“No” Fiona had a look of disgust when Griffin started on her plate “Do you have to be such a pig?”
“I’m not picky about what I eat.” Griffin replied with a full mouth.
“Moron.” Fiona left. Griffin looked at the others.
“What?” Little chunks of food flew out of his mouth as he spoke. Everyone wrinkled their noses in disgust. Peter pretended to run out of the room and throw up.
“Didn’t have to go that far.” Griffin mumbled. Amarina, Blaze and Dawn left the room and walked towards Amarina’s room. As they were walking down the hall, Peter was coming back with a water gun. He put his finger to his lips to signal for them to be quiet. A few seconds later, they heard Griffin yell and Peter laughing. Blaze laughed. They got to Amarina’s room and Blaze helped her pack while Dawn sat on her bed and watched. Blaze suddenly held up a small, beautiful box.
“Oh, what do we have here?” He smiled at Amarina. She put her hands on her hips. He lifted out a very beautiful necklace
“I didn’t expect you to have something like this!” he laughed.
“What? Im not allowed to have nice things?” Amarina replied.
“Not what I meant. You have always seemed like a tomboy. I never imagined you wearing something like this.” Blaze looked Amarina in her eyes.
“You are so lucky that we have known each other for years, or you would have a broken nose right now. Put it away.” Amarina smiled. She lifted a large bag out and handed it to Dawn.
“Put all your stuff in here.” Dawn put in all her new clothes and zipped up the bag.
“What will happen tomorrow.” She wondered.
That night, Dawn went to the wood like always. She found the fawn and stroked her.
“I know I have been putting this off for a long time, but you need a name.” The fawn looked her in the eyes and Dawn heard the fawn in her head.
“Call me Fern….” She said
“You want to be called Fern? Ok then!” Dawn started to tell the newly named fawn what was happening around her.
Next chapter:
“The floor is not the most hygienic place to eat, Blaze.” Jonah stared at Blaze, who was still lying on the floor.
Hope you all enjoyed it! Don’t know what else to say…. So I’ll say, later!
