Epilogue – My Love

“Hello, Mr. Inoue, back so soon?” says the brown haired receptionist as Kye enters the Hotel Foyer after only leaving an hour ago. “Want to re-book your room, sir?”

Kye nods and looks behind him, letting out a humored sigh. Mateus is lagging behind; he is admiring an array of candles on a table nearby. He’s so funny. Kye thinks, rolling his eyes and crossing his tanned arms over his chest at this comical sight.

“Come on, Mateus!” Kye whistles and Mateus jogs over grinning. “We’d better get this sorted.”

The receptionist turns to her computer screen and begins muttering to herself, checking details. “Okay, Inoue Kiyoshi, Tourist, one night, £65, room for one”

“Um…for two.” Kye blushes. “If you don’t mind.” He receives a ‘you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me’ glance and blushes even harder.

Kye grabs Mateus’s palm and places their interlocking hands on the desk. Just to let her see.

“Whatever!” she snaps rudely. Just to annoy her even further, Mateus cheekily kisses Kye on the forehead. She snorts as the couple laughs and makes their way to their room.

Kye is resting his head on his boyfriend’s shoulder. The day’s events whiz through his mind like a swarm of angry bees. They have come so far together. He never imagined that his first trip to London would turn out the way it had. He had saved up his Yen for years and to come here and find out more about his birthparents. He had found nothing. He hadn’t even tried, to be fair. What he had found was greater than knowing about something that happened in the past. He had found love, with that rude arrogant jerk named Mateus. It seems impossible.

“Kye,” says his boyfriend as he curls his arm round his shoulders again. He chuckles cutely and continues speaking in that beautiful, dreamy voice. “What were you going to say before I kissed you earlier?”

He looks up in surprise. “It doesn’t matter” he blushes again.

“Yes, it does! You were about to tell me something. What was it?” He was just teasing Kye now. A fake innocent look spread across his face, he knew really, he just wanted Kye to say it. Damn it, he knows!

“Mateus, you big tease. You know what I was going to say.” His boyfriend shakes his head innocently with a look of false surprise at this accusation.

“Alright, alright.” He takes a deep breath. “Alright. I…love you. Okay?”

His boyfriend pulls him closes and places a soft kiss on his lips. It’s lovely. He thinks until he tastes the sickly tang of blood in his mouth. Oh, shit, not my nose again! Mateus pushes himself away and wipes his lips of Kye’s blood. He laughs; Kye joins in too.

Mateus pulls out a handkerchief from his trouser pocket and wipes Kye’s bloody lips. He strokes his hair. “Hey, Kye. I love you too.”

They lie down together on the sofa and begin to drift to sleep in their boyfriends loving arms. Kye looks up at Mateus’s beautiful face. He runs his fingers over his nose and moves closer.

We’re together.

And this is how it’s meant to be.

With you.

Forever.

My love.
