My One Escape

Though I long for it to be over,

There is not an escape from my misery.

Though I want to end it all,

I live to give to you.

My life without you is forfeit,

My soul locked to life.

I feel nothing anymore,

My eyes cold to the world around me,

I long to feel the cold steel cut through my skin,

But I can’t bring to blade to my wrist,

For your image haunts my mind.

You’re the one thing holding me back,

You are the one thing keeping me here.

You are the thing I hold most dear,

And without you, I would feel the pain.

I would finally get my surrender,

I’d stain my white flag in my blood.

I would die,

From my own hands,

Without you.
